  • Patent number: 11877569
Abstract: Provided is a fishing reel spool that has a line knot hider. The spool for a fishing reel includes a knot hider for hiding a knot of a fishing line inside the surface of a winding part such that a line is uniformly wound on the winding section without a knot exposed outside the surface of the winding section, thereby not interfering with thumbing in casting and enabling even a beginner to easily connect and use a fishing line without connecting a fishing line to a spool using a complicated knotting manner. The spool for a fishing ring includes a drum-shaped winding part mounted on a reel body by a shaft and configured to wind a fishing line on an outer surface thereof, and a knot hider configured to hide a knot of the fishing line inside a surface of the winding part.

  • Patent number: 5348246
Abstract: A bait cast reel of the type having a line-carrying spool, a rotatable crank handle with an associated crank shaft for imparting rotation to the spool to wind line thereon, a line guide, and a worm gear operable in response to rotation of the crank shaft for causing reciprocative movement of the line guide across the spool as the spool is rotated to thereby evenly distribute line on the spool, wherein the structure of the guide track (guide) for the line guide, and, in particular, the cross-sectional shape of the guide, matches the cross-sectional shape of an opening in the frame of the reel such that during assembly the guide may be aligned with and inserted through the matching opening. Thereafter, the guide is rotated so that a portion is out of alignment with the opening and an attaching member is passed through the frame and through the out of alignment portion of the guide. The guide is positioned to support the line guide as the line guide is reciprocated to evenly lay the line on the spool.

  • Patent number: 5149010
Abstract: A fishing reel of the spincast type has a suitable internal mechanism carried within an improved housing including a front cover, a rear cover and a stem and mounting foot thereon for mounting to a fishing rod. The front cover has two parts, the first part (11a) being cylindrical with a front and rear edge and the second part (11b) having a conical forward portion and a cylindrical rearward portion. The front edge portion of the first part has two cylindrical flanges forming an annular groove (58) therebetween. The inner of the flanges has spaced apart cutouts (60) therein. The front edge portion of the inner of the flanges has at least one notch (64) in alignment with one of the cutouts contained therein.

  • Patent number: 4997143
Abstract: A spin casting fishing reel is provided with a key slideably mounted within the frame for providing release of the spindle shaft assembly from the reel frame. The key is slideable from a first key position, which operatively retains the shaft assembly within the frame, to a second key position, which releases the shaft assembly, so that the entire spindle shaft assembly can be removed from the frame. Once released from the frame, the entire spindle shaft assembly can be easily disassembled into its component parts for repair or readjustment. With the spin casting fishing reel reassembled to its normal operating position, it operates as any conventional spin casting fishing reel.

  • Patent number: 4905930
Abstract: A casting type fishing reel is disclosed and includes a spool having a transverse spool shaft and a frame about the area of the spool. The frame includes a plurality of spacer posts joining a pair of side frame plates and interengaged to maintain the frame plates in conjoint alignment and to provide easy separation and assembly of the frame plates. A clutch mechanism is provided for selective actuation to move a spool pinion gear out of engagement with the spool shaft, and automatically re-engages the pinion gear in response to rotation of the reel handle. A magnetic drag mechanism is provided and recessed within a side cover of the reel. The reel handle, the main gear train of the reel and an anti-reverse ratchet-pawl mechanism all are mounted as a unitary assembly on a side cover for the reel whereby the cover can be removed from the reel for access to the gear train and other interior reel components without removing the handle.

  • Patent number: 4856730
Abstract: A spool for fishing reels for permitting full use of the fishing line wound thereon and eliminates the increased drag and resistance normally resulting when casting after the amount of line on the reel is reduced to low levels. The spool has an inner flange and an outer flange separated by a hub upon which fishing line may be wound, the outer flange being formed from two plate members one of which is substantially larger than the other and removably attached thereto when the amount of line on the reel is more than a predetermined amount. The smaller plate member is permanently attached to the hub of the spool and the inner surface of the smaller plate forms a continuous with the removable plate member when the latter is attached thereto. The fixed plate member and the removable plate member have interlocking cooperating surfaces and a single reel lock may selectively attach the spool to a reel mounting shaft in either configuration.
