Single Coil Cartridge (e.g., Film Magazine) Patents (Class 242/348)
  • Publication number: 20100065671
Abstract: A recording tape cartridge is equipped with a reel around which is wound recording tape and an upper case and a lower case that house the reel. Ribs whose rib height gradually becomes lower from a center side of the reel toward an outer peripheral side of the reel are formed on an inner surface of the upper case. Edge portions that slant linearly from the center side of the reel toward the outer peripheral side of the reel are formed on the reel side of the ribs. The distance of the space inside the case in the thickness direction of the recording tape cartridge is wider on the outer peripheral side of the reel in comparison to the center side of the reel, so it is difficult for the recording tape inside the case to sustain damage even if the recording tape cartridge receives an impact.

  • Patent number: 7677488
Abstract: A recording tape cartridge which includes a case, a reel including a hub accommodated in the case, a locking member supported to be non-rotatable relative to the case and disposed within the hub, and a switching member disposed in the case. The hub is provided with an engaging portion therein. The locking member can attain a rotation-locking position, at which the locking member engages with the engaging portion and fills a gap between the reel and the case in an axial direction of the reel, and a rotation-enabling position, at which the state of engagement with the engaging portion is released and the locking member being withdrawn from the gap. The switching member retains the locking member at the rotation-locking position at times of non-use of the recording tape, and moves the locking member to the rotation-enabling position when operated in a predetermined direction by a drive device.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge includes a reel, a case where the reel is accommodated, an engagement gear that is provided in the reel, and a brake gear which is provided in the case side brake member and in which a mesh state with the engagement gear or a mesh release state with the engagement gear is switched by relative displacement of an axis line direction of the brake member with respect to the reel. In a piece taper tooth of the engagement gear, a mesh surface that is oriented in a winding rotation direction is approximately parallel to a reel axis line direction and an opposite mesh surface is inclined with respect to the reel axis line. A piece taper tooth of the brake gear is a taper tooth that is opposite to the piece taper tooth of the engagement gear.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge can prevent release of rotation locking of a reel with respect to a case accompanying dropping of the recording tape cartridge. The tape recording cartridge is configured to rotatably accommodate within a case a reel that has magnetic tape wound on a reel hub. Within the reel hub, external teeth of a brake gear, of a brake member that is supported so as to be non-rotatable with respect to the case, mesh with an engaged gear having internal teeth, preventing rotation of the reel with respect to the case. Lock portions of lock members are inserted between the reel positioned biased to a bottom panel side by a compression coil spring, and a top panel, thereby preventing movement of the reel with respect to the case in the reel axial direction.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cartridge includes a reel around which a magnetic tape is wound, a cartridge casing accommodating the reel rotatably, a reel locking member, a biasing member, a spider, and a lubricant. The reel locking member includes a convex sliding portion and engages with the reel to block a rotation thereof. The biasing member biases the reel locking member so that the reel locking member engages with the reel. The spider includes a supporting surface that comes into contact with the sliding portion and has a concave portion concaved at substantially the center thereof, and a wall portion that surrounds the supporting surface, the spider pushing and moving the reel locking member against a bias force of the biasing member to release the engagement between the reel locking member and the reel. The lubricant is applied between the sliding portion and the supporting surface.

Abstract: At a reel, an outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical tube portion of a reel hub is a tape winding surface around which a magnetic tape is wound. In a free state, the tape winding surface forms a substantial taper shape in which an outer diameter is greater at an upper end portion side where a radial direction rigidity is relatively low, than at a lower end portion side where the rigidity is high. In a state in which a magnetic tape is wound, the tape winding surface can form a shape that is substantially symmetrical with respect to a transverse direction of the magnetic tape. As a result, the reel and a recording tape cartridge are obtained in which the outer peripheral surface of the hub forms a proper shape in a state in which a recording tape is wound.

The reel hub is integrally formed with a lower flange and a radius of the reel hub on an upper flange side is greater than a radius on a lower flange side. By winding the recording tape T around the reel hub in such a manner that a side having a smaller radius of curvature of a tape edge is on the lower flange side of the reel hub, the displacement of the recording tape T in the axial direction of the reel hub during traveling is suppressed. As a result, recording and reproducing errors of servo signals and recording signals may be suppressed and reduction of so-called position error signals and off-track errors may be expected even in a case of high-density recording.
