Patent number: 6887032Abstract: There is provided a rotor for a turbo/drag vacuum pump, the rotor comprising an upstream rotor segment of the turbine type made of metal or alloy, and a downstream rotor segment of Holweck type made of composite material. The downstream segment of the rotor has a reinforcing structure made of long fibers that are distributed in a manner that varies as a function of the section under consideration: in the annular connection region connected to the upstream segment of the rotor, the fibers are inclined and/or spaced apart in order to conserve sufficient flexibility for the composite material to enable it to deform so as to track deformation of the metal of the upstream rotor segment while it is in operation; in contrast, the fibers are close together and form turns that touch in the downstream region of the skirt, thereby guaranteeing greater stiffness in order to withstand the mechanical stresses that occur during high-speed rotation of the rotor in operation.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2003Date of Patent: May 3, 2005Assignee: AlcatelInventors: Lionel Favre-Felix, Olivier Dauvillier, André Bouille

Patent number: 6190156Abstract: A continuous thermoplastic wire is heated and fed into a coil forming apparatus having a rotative drum holding an injection nozzle so that it registers with and be linked in a common rotative movement to a threaded mandrel also supported by the drum. The wire discharged by the nozzle slidably engages the threads of the mandrel into a helical pattern, the mandrel being radially and coaxially surrounded by a cooled sleeve. The wire will thus solidify along the helical thread of the mandrel, to form a continuous plastic coil being discharged at the downstream extremity of the mandrel and sleeve assembly. Due to the fact that the drum, mandrel and nozzle all rotate in a common rotative movement, it is possible to select the direction and speed of rotation of the three last-mentioned elements so that the coil being discharged have an ouput discharge translational speed, while being exempt of any absolute rotational movement about its longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1998Date of Patent: February 20, 2001Assignee: 2751-3654 Québec Inc.Inventors: André Primeau, Régent Corriveau, Jean T. Patent number: 5584438Abstract: A process and a device for performing the process are each provided, where the process produces a transformer winding from angularly profiled wires, where the angularly profiled wires are wound by guiding the same into a twist head and arranging such unwound profiled wires into two adjacently located conductor stacks, upper and lower conductors from the respective stacks being interchanged to the other stack through an offset. A twisted conductor is formed and is wound on a support cylinder in order to conform the twisted conductor to a transformer winding which is to be placed on the core of the transformer. While winding the twisted conductor onto the support cylinder, the position of the same is continuously detected, and an output signal indicating the position is outputted to a comparing mechanism for comparing the actual detected position to a preset value. In addition, the diameter of the resulting winding is scanned, and based upon the winding diameter, the twist head is controlled accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1994Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: Firma Asta Elektrodraht GmbHInventor: Kurt Jagersberger
