  • Patent number: 9221020
Abstract: Disclosed is the method for creating a reinforced hollow fiber membrane by applying reinforcing filaments to a core, casting a dope over the filaments and core, forming a membrane from the dope, and removing the core. The core may be a moving core, and the reinforcing yarns may comprise warp yarns and a spiral wrap yarn. The core may be soluble and removed by dissolving it. The core may be pre-wrapped with a yarn before the warp yarns are applied. The resulting reinforcing cage may be pre-shrunk before it is coated with a membrane dope. The pre-wrapped yarn may be removed, for example by dissolving it, after the reinforcing cage is coated. A precursor assembly for making a hollow fiber membrane is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9027869
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus prevents a fiber bundle supplied to a liner from interfering with other fiber bundles and fiber supplying guides. First and second guide units include a plurality of fiber supplying guides arranged radially and extending and contracting in a direction approximately perpendicular to a liner central axis. When a fiber bundle supplied from a first supplying guide of the first guide unit crosses between a second supplying guide of the second guide unit and the liner, the distance from the second supplying guide to the liner central axis is made larger than the distance from the first supplying guide to the liner central axis, and in the reverse case, the distance from the first supplying guide to the liner central axis is made larger than the distance from the second supplying guide to the liner central axis.

  • Publication number: 20130193061
Abstract: A first aspect of the present invention pertains to a filter comprising a tubular core with a plurality of apertures and a hollow interior, said core having an open end for fluid communication with the hollow interior, a length of yarn wound in a series of at least three layers around an outer surface of the core, wherein two consecutive layers have been wound in accordance with different winding patterns. A second aspect pertaining to the a filter, wherein the yarn comprises a mixture of natural and synthetic fibers, wherein the natural fibers constitutes less than 40% of the yarn, and the reminder constitutes fibers or a mix of fibers made from one or more of the following synthetic materials: acryl, polyester, flax, polyamide, acetate. The invention furthermore pertains to a method of manufacturing a filter according to one or both of the above mentioned aspects.

  • Patent number: 7419116
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for forming field coils on a stator stack including a plurality of slots defined by stator teeth. The apparatus includes a stator nest for holding a stator stack and a winding tool extending through the stator nest for locating wire in the stator stack. The winding tool includes a wire feed aperture for feeding wire into slots of the stator stack. A drifting tool is supported on the winding tool and includes radially extending drift blades for extending into the slots of the stator stack for forming or shaping wire coils that are wound on the stator teeth by the winding tool. Longitudinal movement of the winding tool causes the drifting tool to move into and out of engagement with the stator stack.

  • Publication number: 20080135667
Abstract: The method of precision winding of yarn into packages by frequently changing the wind ratio within one winding cycle solves the problem related to frictional force “Fr”, which is generated in the odd layer at unwinding of packages, by introducing a quite innovative technique of threads winding on the tube in odd winding-on layers and even layers. To carry out the method according to this invention, it does not matter if the driver of thread guides of the winder, on which a package is wound, changes the direction of its rotation or not. If the driver of thread guide, i.e. the servomotor does not change the direction of rotation, it must be taken into consideration that the number of guides should be a multiple of the length of thread guides carriers, and the distance between them should match the length “L” of the package. The thread can be wound on a cylindrical or conical tube, with or without flanges at back end of the package.

  • Patent number: 7243874
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for winding wire coils on a plurality of poles to be assembled to form a dynamo-electric machine component are provided. A plurality of holding members that each hold a respective pole while the wire coils are wound may be provided. Each holding member may be configured to rotate its respective pole about a central axis of the holding member. A plurality of wire dispensing members may be provided that each dispense wire onto a respective pole as each pole rotates about the central axis of its respective holding member. A support structure configured to support the plurality of wire dispensing members may be provided. The wire may be stratified on each pole by the simultaneous radial movement of the plurality of wire dispensers with respect to a central axis of the support structure.

  • Patent number: 6910654
Abstract: A multi-layer coil is wound around a bobbin having a center pillar and a small and a large flanges connected to longitudinal ends of the center pillar. A winding space having a trapezoidal cross-section in a plane cut through the center axis of the bobbin is formed outside the center pillar between both flanges. To wind the multi-layer coil in this winding space, a turning position where a layer of the coil moves up to a higher layer is set by a position setter, and the turning position is automatically shifted layer by layer to form a sloped outer surface of the coil. The coil is wound in a shape fitting the trapezoidal winding space without reducing the winding speed. The space factor of the coil in the winding space is improved, making the coil compact in size.

  • Patent number: 6499689
Abstract: A wire winding apparatus produces a coil of a desired shape quickly and inexpensively. An element wire to be wound on a winding frame is supported while a predetermined tension is applied to the element wire. When the element wire is shifted from a turn to another turn during the winding of the element wire around the winding frame, the element wire is regularly aligned by utilizing the tension applied to the element wire.

  • Patent number: 6375113
Abstract: A coil is formed by winding a conductive wire around a winding frame that is being rotated about a rotational axis of the winding frame. Guide members contact the conductive wire being wound around the winding frame to define the winding position of the conductive wire. The guide members are supported by a link mechanism that is provided coaxially with the rotational axis so as to rotate synchronously with the winding frame. As a third actuator moves a driving link in the direction of the rotational axis, the guide members are moved in directions of a diameter of the winding frame. As a first actuator moves a holding link in the direction of the rotational axis, the guide members are moved in the direction of the rotational axis together with the holding link. As a second actuator extends or contracts an arm, one of the guide members is moved independently of another one of the guide members. The first, second and third actuators do not need to rotate together with the winding frame.
