Abstract: The invention is an extendable winch assembly, that include a winch, having a drum for winding and unwinding a line and a first motor for driving the drum about a winding axis. The assembly also includes a winch mount for mounting the winch to a vehicle, the winch mount. The winch mount includes a base attached to the vehicle and extendable arm attached at one end to the base, wherein the extendable arm is configured to move the winch from a retracted position proximate the vehicle to an extended position spaced from the vehicle. The winch mount also includes a plate attached at an other end of the extendable arm, wherein the winch is attached to the plate in such a way as to allow the winch to pivot about a pivot axis perpendicular to the winding axis.

Abstract: A drum unit for an intervention string for a well includes a drum with a radius for the intervention string, arranged in a structural frame and rotatable by a motor, the drum being arranged translating along a drum axis and driven by a translation motor, for controlled winding of the intervention string onto the drum relative to a first, fixed guide in the structural frame. A compensator includes a guide arch, the guide arch being displaceable in a direction orthogonal to the drum axis using a force device at the structural frame. The intervention string runs between the guide arch and the first fixed guide to or from a first end of the guide arch to the drum. The intervention string runs via a second, opposite end of the guide arch via a second, fixed guide at the structural frame, to or from the well.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved level wind arm for a winch drum assembly, and a winch drum assembly incorporating such a level wind arm. The level wind arm includes a cross member adapted to bias against an outwardly extending portion of rope, the cross member being concave so that more force is required for the rope spindle associated with the cross member to “climb” the slope of the cross member, causing a momentary pause in motion of the spindle after it reaches the end of wind stroke. This momentary pause allows for rope being wound onto the drum to rise up the end wall of the drum to create a new layer which is aligned and consistent with the layer below, without causing gaps in the rope or other circumstances which could lead to the rope accumulating at any one point, or becoming tangled. The present invention also includes means of ensuring that tension is maintained in the rope, and that the rope does not jump off the reel and, for example, into the clutch mechanism.
Abstract: A traversor guide apparatus is disclosed. The present invention makes it possible to accurately measure a moved distance of an object by keeping a wire tightly wound on a bobbin even when a bobbin has an instant rotation.
