Abstract: A method of winding an elastomeric yarn, such as spandex, onto a spool includes the steps of providing a spool; providing an elastomeric yarn; rotating the spool at a speed to define a spool rotation speed; moving the yarn traversely with respect to the spool in an alternating to and fro manner to define a traverse frequency; winding the yarn onto the spool; controlling the ratio of the spool rotation speed to the traverse frequency to define a wind ratio during the winding of the yarn onto the spool; and decreasing the traverse speed as the yarn is wound onto the spool in an inverse proportion to an amount of yarn that has been wound. The winding of the yarn onto the spool forms a yarn cake on the spool. The traverse speed may be decreased in inverse proportion to a diameter of the yarn cake. Abstract: In a process for producing cross-wound packages in a yarn winding device of a textile machine, the helix angle of the wound-on yarn changes during winding on. The cable passes through an elongated slot formed the guide and which is preferably formed at a predetermined angle with respect to the central axis of rotation of the spool. By means of the elongated slot, the individual windings can be wound about the spool without successive windings overlapping each other. The elongated slot further has an internal surface that has a minimum radius to prevent the cable from making too small a bend during the winding function.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for winding pre-oriented, non-crystalline polyester filaments onto a spool at a winding speed of at least 4,200 m/min, in which the wound filament is wound over the width of the spool by means of a flying traverse arm and is turned by a driven sensing roller with an applied pressure between 8 and 18 kg on the circumference of a spool placed on a driven spool-locating pin. The filaments for winding are introduced to the traverse thread guide at a thread tension of between 0.03 cN/dtex and 0.20 cN/dtex. The sensing roller is driven at an overspeed of preferably between 0.3 and 1.2 % in comparison with the spool circumferential speed. The thread laying anile is set between 3.5° and 7.5° by means of the spool travel. The above method permits a good spool formation even at high spooling speeds.

  • Patent number: 6776367
Abstract: A winding machine for winding a strand onto a tubular support to form a strand package, and including a spindle on the which the tubular support is mounted for rotation therewith. A motor is provided for rotating the spindle. A reciprocating traverse mechanism, including a strand guide, guides the strand onto the tubular support at a predetermined traverse stroke and wind ratio. The traverse mechanism includes servo-motor for selectively starting and stopping reciprocating movement of the strand guide in accordance with the predetermined traverse stroke and wind ratio, and a programmable servo-controller accepts data inputs reflecting the desired traverse stroke and wind ratio and outputting data to the servo-motor reflecting the desired traverse stroke and wind ratio.

Abstract: A package of material for unwinding from a flush end. The package of material includes an elongated winding member to receive a continuous strand of material substantially normal to an axis of the elongated winding member. The continuous strand of material wound about the elongated winding member substantially covers at least one of two ends of the winding member to define a flush end of the package of material. The covered end of the winding member does not protrude beyond the continuous strand of material wound on the winding member. The continuous strand of material is to be unwound over the flush end in a substantially parallel misaligned manner relative to the axis of the elongated winding member. The continuous strand of material being unwound from the elongated winding member is free of obstruction from the covered end of the winding member.

  • Patent number: 6443385
Abstract: Strand-shaped winding material is continuously supplied to a coil, whereby the position of the winding material is observed with at least one video camera, whereby the data about the wrapping obtained in this way are conducted to a computer unit that initiates a corresponding readjustment. With reference to the coil axis and as seen in radial direction, the position of the apexes of the turns is identified for at least respectively two turns of the new winding ply, and, given a deviation of these apexes from a rated value, a readjustment is implemented in the delivery of the winding material.

  • Patent number: 6283392
Abstract: A fishing reel having a frame and an operating mechanism on the frame. The operating mechanism has a line carrying spool that is movable guidingly and reciprocatingly in a first path in first and second opposite directions, a bail assembly which is rotatable around a first axis to direct line onto the line carrying spool, a drive element that is operable to rotate the bail assembly, and an oscillating assembly. The oscillating assembly is driven by operation of the drive element and thereby causes the line carrying spool to move in the first path. The oscillating assembly has a first gear element that is rotatably driven by operation of the drive element around a second axis that is transverse to the first axis and a second gear element that is in mesh with the first gear element. The second gear element extends both a) in the first direction beyond the second axis and b) in the second direction beyond the second axis as the fishing reel is operated.
