Having Take-up Package Sensor Patents (Class 242/485.1)
  • Patent number: 8567708
Abstract: Disclosed is a portable device for winding thread around a bobbin from a spool of thread. The device includes a height adjustable thread holder configured to receive the spool of thread, a thread guide bar pivotable between a stored position and an operative position, and an adjustable tension feed device for applying tension to the thread during winding. The device also includes a spindle slot configured to receive one of a plurality of rotatable spindles that are interchangeable within the spindle slot so that different corresponding spindles can be used with the device. Also, a speed control knob for adjusting a speed at which the spindle rotates and thus at which thread is wound around the bobbin from the spool of thread, a fill knob for adjusting the amount of thread to be wound on the bobbin, and an automatic shut off mechanism are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6789762
Abstract: An apparatus and method for winding cables onto a rotatably driven cable drum without gaps, an oncoming cable being wound in a new coil directly next to the preceding coil at the running-on point, and the running-on angle of the cable being corrected if a monitoring device finds a gap between the last coils. A marking that changes over time is applied to the cable by a marking device before it is wound, and in the marking is detected at least in the new coil and the preceding coil, it being possible for the new coil to be differentiated from the preceding coil.

  • Patent number: 6375112
Abstract: A device for winding conical cross-wound bobbins has a creel pivotably mounted about a pivot axis and receiving the conical bobbin, a yarn guide traversing alongside the creel, and a yarn accumulator adapted to accumulate and pay-out a stored length of yarn. The prevailing instantaneous driven diameter (da) of the cross-wound bobbin (24) is detected by a first sensor device (48, 48′), the prevailing instantaneous position and/or the direction of travel of the yarn guide (36) is detected by a second sensor device (50, 50′), and the sensor devices (48, 48′, 50, 50′) are connected to a control device (46) which supplies a control signal for a drive (40) of the yarn accumulator (32) as a function of the signals supplied.

  • Patent number: 6349896
Abstract: A collet is rotated to wind a strand and build a package. The strand is reciprocated with a strand reciprocator having a strand guide to lay the strand in a pattern on the package surface as the package rotates. As the package builds, the diameter of the package increases. A method includes a startup procedure for selecting a desired rotational speed or torque of the collet prior to building the package. As the package builds, the torque on the collet is monitored and kept within upper and lower operating curves to control the package density. The method can also monitor the torque of the cam and/or receder to control the force exerted by the strand guide on the package.
