  • Patent number: 6926223
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for winding pre-oriented, non-crystalline polyester filaments onto a spool at a winding speed of at least 4,200 m/min, in which the wound filament is wound over the width of the spool by means of a flying traverse arm and is turned by a driven sensing roller with an applied pressure between 8 and 18 kg on the circumference of a spool placed on a driven spool-locating pin. The filaments for winding are introduced to the traverse thread guide at a thread tension of between 0.03 cN/dtex and 0.20 cN/dtex. The sensing roller is driven at an overspeed of preferably between 0.3 and 1.2%, in comparison with the spool circumferential speed. The thread laying angle is set between 3.5° and 7.5° by means of the spool travel. The above method permits a good spool formation even at high spooling speeds.

  • Patent number: 6540172
Abstract: A method for producing cheeses of the random winding type, wherein the workstations of an automatic cheese winder comprise a winding device with a yarn guide drum and a creel, both supported in an axially shiftable relation to each other, the creel holding the cheese in a rotatable manner and the yarn guide drum driving the cheese through frictional engagement, a ribbon disturbance device and an edge displacement device. The ribbon disturbance device causes a slippage by a defined adjustment of the bearing pressure of the cheese on the yarn guide drum. Relative movements between the yarn guide drum and the creel are initiated in the area of ribbon winding zones which counteract a stroke change caused by the ribbon disturbance during the winding of the yarn onto the cheese.

  • Patent number: 6349896
Abstract: A collet is rotated to wind a strand and build a package. The strand is reciprocated with a strand reciprocator having a strand guide to lay the strand in a pattern on the package surface as the package rotates. As the package builds, the diameter of the package increases. A method includes a startup procedure for selecting a desired rotational speed or torque of the collet prior to building the package. As the package builds, the torque on the collet is monitored and kept within upper and lower operating curves to control the package density. The method can also monitor the torque of the cam and/or receder to control the force exerted by the strand guide on the package.

  • Patent number: 6254028
Abstract: A damping device is provided for damping the oscillations of a winding bobbin in spinning, twisting or winding machines. A bobbin holder, which can be swivelled around a swivel axle affixed to the machine, supports the rotatably supported winding bobbin, which is pressed against a drive roller. Damping elements act in swivel directions of the bobbin holder, the effect of the damping elements being greater in the swivel direction of the winding bobbin when it is raised from the drive roller than in the swivel direction when the winding bobbin is pressed against the drive roller. A friction jaw is provided for damping, which, with its pressing surface is pressed by resilient forces against a friction surface in the form of a cylinder surface. The axis of the cylinder surface is the swivel axle of the bobbin holder. The resilient force which loads the pressing surface exerts a moment on the bobbin holder, which tends to lift the winding bobbin from the drive roller.
