Thereafter, the holding by the holding mechanism is released, and thereby the end portion of the web is attached to the winding core. Thereafter, the winding core is rotated, and the web is wound up on the winding core. The winding device comprises at least two separate winding stations, each winding station being connected to one or more bag feeding devices; and a switch that is arranged upstream of a bag feeding device to direct the bags from one winding station to the other when a roll of bags has been completed in one of the winding stations.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of forming coreless rolls of pressure sensitive adhesive tape involves the use of a mandrel assembly having a specific circumferential tape supporting segment thereon for winding tape. The circumferential tape supporting segment has a tape engaging surface portion that, in a radial orientation, is compressible yet sufficiently stiff to support the tape as it is successively wound about the mandrel to form a tape roll, and that is sufficiently pliant to permit ready axial removal of a wound tape roll from the shaft. The innermost wrap of pressure sensitive adhesive tape about the mandrel is masked by an adhesive liner. That liner is formed from one portion of a liner/tab segment which had been applied to the tape previously, and prior to winding, the tape is severed, and the remainder of that liner/tab forms an end tab on the outermost end of the previously formed coreless tape roll.

A wrap roller (20) is moved so as to draw the web upstream of the core (30) around a portion of the circumference of the core. • Patent number: 6082659
Abstract: Apparatus and a process for the high-speed coiling of an aluminum strip. The high speed coiling can be accomplished throughout a continuous casting process without slowing the coiling as the present invention enables the transfer of the moving strip from one coil to an empty mandrel without slowing the line speed. Since line speeds can be approximately 3600 feet per minute, this represents an advance in process technology. Generally, the transfer of the moving strip is accomplished using a very high speed knife, and a belt wrapper. The moving strip is accumulated on one mandrel to form a coil, the coil is moved away from the knife and a second mandrel is brought into position. The knife is positioned at the moving aluminum strip and accelerated to cut the strip and deflect it to a tucking roll with a moving belt. The moving strip is forced around the second mandrel and starts to wind to form a coil. The completed coil is removed and the process is repeated.

Abstract: For winding up of a paper web to form a paper roll, a first reel spool is accelerated to the speed of the web and brought into a first, start-of-winding position in which it forms a nip with a driveable press drum. The beginning of the web of paper is guided around the press drum and is wound onto the first reel spool. When a first layer thickness has been wound, the first reel spool is transferred into a second, complete-winding position and the paper roll is wound up there to its desired layer thickness. During the entire winding process, the press drum or a special press roll are pressed against the winding surface of the developing paper roll, a torque is introduced into the axis of the first reel spool by means of a central drive and the press drum and/or press roll and the first reel spool with the developing paper roll thereon are displaced, preferably exclusively horizontally, without substantial changes in the direction or orientation of those elements.
