Patent number: 11608222Abstract: An expansion device includes an unexpended slit sheet roll that is wound on a paper core that is wider than the slit sheet paper. The paper core is placed into a yoke that holds the paper in position on each side of the unexpended slit sheet material. An adjustable downward pressure is exerted on the paper core and the paper core exerts pressure on the yoke. As the paper is pulled, this downward pressure creates the friction required to enable the unexpended slit sheet to be unwind and fed while simultaneously expanding. A blank sheet is formed into a box that stabilizes slit paper sheet wound around a core member.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2017Date of Patent: March 21, 2023Inventor: David Paul Goodrich

The web is fed through a first nip point and thereby applied to a lay-on roll, the lay-on roll further applying the web material onto first and second cores alternatively. An electrostatic charging bar positioned downstream from the nip point emits an electrostatic charge onto the web to temporarily adhere the web to the lay-on roll. A rotatable cutting knife cooperatively engageable with the lay-on roll cuts the web at a point downstream from the electrostatic charging bar but upstream from the first and second cores to produce a tail and new leading edge. The tail continues to be wound about the first roll, and the new leading edge is affixed to the second roll and the web is thereafter wound about the second core.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1999Date of Patent: July 24, 2001Assignee: Faustel, Inc.Inventor: John J. Patent number: 6209817Abstract: Method and apparatus for monitoring a winding hardness of a winding roll when winding a material web. A series of marks are placed on the material web at a first location as it is wound onto the winding roll. The distance between two successive marks is detected at a second location. The detected distance of two successive marks is used to determine a stretch of the material web.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1999Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Assignee: Voith Sulzer Papiertechnik Patent GmbHInventors: Hans-Rolf Conrad, Dirk Cramer
