With Clutch Or Releasable Coupling Patents (Class 242/545)
  • Patent number: 10058927
Abstract: A machine tool clamping device for releasably holding a tool holder having a tapered shank and a knob protruding from the tapered shank, the clamping device having: a spindle, rotatable about an axis, and having a tapered socket at a lower end thereof and an axial passage, the tapered socket being complementary in shape to the shank of a tool holder. Clamping members are pinned to the spindle and extend into the axial passage, the clamping members being pivotal between a clamped position in which the clamping members clamp the tool holder knob, and an unclamped position in which the clamping members release the tool holder knob. A drawbar is slidable within the spindle axial passage between the clamping members, the drawbar having a surface that acts to pivot the clamping members between the clamped and unclamped positions depending on the position of the drawbar within the axial passage. A spring is arranged between the drawbar and the spindle to bias the drawbar to the clamped position.

  • Patent number: 6820835
Abstract: A device for rotating a web material roll supported on a reel shaft having a pair of ends. The rotating device includes a female drive member coupled to one end of the reel shaft and defining an opening having a non-circular perimeter, such as a square opening. Also included is a male drive device having a rotatably powered drive shaft having an end that is congruent to the non-circular perimeter of the opening in the female drive member. The non-circular perimeter allows the reel shaft, and web material roll, to be positively rotated during unwinding. A telescoping assembly of the male drive device is capable of extending the drive shaft into the opening so as to allow co-rotation of the shaft and female member. An optional roll supporting cart may be employed to rotatably support the web material roll when aligning the male and female drive members.

  • Patent number: 6422502
Abstract: A winding unit is provided in which one-way clutches for driving and braking are mounted in the inner surface of the reel and a web such as a cover tape 39 is wound by intermittently rotating the reel. Tension acting on the web can be released during replacement of the reel. A spring type torque limiter 18 is disposed between the reel boss 25 and outer rings 12, 12′ of the one-way clutches 9, 11 for driving and braking. The torque limiter 18 is arranged such that, during rotation in the winding direction, a coil spring 27 locks to transmit torque, and when the reel is forcibly turned in the unwinding direction, slip occurs, thus releasing the tension in the web.

The spool is displaceable between the braked state and a released state. The drive shaft is rotated and slid while the spool is in the braked state, to engage the drive shaft with the first end in a key-engaged manner. After the drive shaft is engaged with the first end, the spool is displaced from the braked state to the released state.

Abstract: A drive shaft is moved in a machine direction and a cross-machine direction to engage a spool on a winder. The drive shaft has an inner drive shaft which is elastically linked to an outer cylindrical shell, thereby allowing misalignment between the inner shaft and the outer shell and allows angular as well as horizontal and vertical displacement when the drive head engages the spool to provide centerwind assist to a roll of paper being formed thereon.
