    Abstract: A seatbelt pretensioner is provided including an inner tube with a gas generator housed therein, an intermediate sleeve extending over the inner tube, and a spool portion housing the sleeve and the tube. The spool portion includes spiraling flutes thereon that correspond to a protruding member in the form of flutes or pegs extending from the intermediate sleeve. In response to the gas generator firing, the sleeve will be driven longitudinally, causing the protruding member to act on the spiraling flutes of the spool, thereby causing the spool to rotate. The intermediate sleeve can include a spiraling slot that receives a peg from the inner tube, so that the intermediate sleeve will rotate to compound the spool rotation.

    Abstract: A system for pretensioning a seatbelt includes a minispool and a drive rod. The drive rod includes a spiral portion that, when driven along a longitudinal axis, causes the minispool to rotate about the longitudinal axis. The spiral portion of the drive rod engages the minispool, which includes corresponding structure that tracks the spiral portion. The minispool is restricted from longitudinal travel such that tracking the spiral portion causes the minispool to rotate and the drive rod passes through the minispool. In another form, the minispool can be arranged transverse to the longitudinal axis, with the translation of the drive rod causing the minispool to translate in the same direction of the drive rod. The minispool can include teeth that engage a bracket, such that the translation of the minispool causes the minispool to rotate as it translates.

    Abstract: A paper magazine made up of a small number of parts and capable of rewinding paper pulled out of the case around the roll of paper in the magazine by turning the paper roll. The paper roll is supported on a roll support shaft provided in the magazine case. The roll support shaft includes a core support rod, a pair of cylindrical end members mounted on both ends of the core support rod, and a core mounted on the core support rod between the end members. The paper roll is mounted on the core. When the paper is pulled out of the paper roll, the core is rotated in one direction, so that one of two torsion coil springs tightens to bias the core in the paper rewinding direction. Thus, as soon as the paper is pulled back into the case, the core is turned in the rewinding direction by the one of the coil springs, so that the paper can be smoothly wound around the core.

    Abstract: A winding device is provided for winding a web to expose its underside. When wallpapering, rolled prepasted wallcovering is first cut into appropriate lengths. The cut lengths have a memory of their rolled condition and tend to automatically re-roll into the rolled condition with the dry adhesive oriented internally. The winding device of the instant invention permits the wallcovering to be rolled into a condition with the dry adhesive oriented externally as to permit the subsequent wetting and application of the wallpaper. A rectangular member with a centrally disposed slot is provided to be adapted to a hand held rotary device such as an electric screwdriver or drill. The rectangular member may be substantially flat. The slot is designed to receive the first end of a web such as wallpaper. The elongated slot may be modified by a semi-triangular guide element to permit the web to be threaded thereto in a more efficient manner.
