  • Publication number: 20110095126
Abstract: A paper quilling tool that provides a flat surface for the paper strips to be wound. This flat surface includes a small hole in the center for a slotted quilling tool to be inserted in the bottom. The tip of the slotted quilling tool then protrudes through the top side of the guide exposing the slotted tip of the tool. The paper strip is inserted into the slot and the slotted quilling tool rotated to wind the paper around the tip. The flat surface of the guide allows the paper strip to be rolled while keeping the paper edges even, providing the coiled paper shape needed for the paper quilling craft.

  • Patent number: 7427045
Abstract: A tape winder includes: a hub, around which a tape is wound overlappingly and which forms a tape roll on the hub; a first guide roller, defining the position of feeding of the tape into the tape roll being formed on the hub while pressing an outer peripheral surface of the tape roll; and a moving mechanism, moving the first guide roller away from the rotation axis of the hub as the tape roll increases in diameter. A rotation axis of the first guide roller is positioned along a normal to a reference surface and the rotation axis of the hub intersects the rotation axis of the first guide roller at an angle ?. The tape is processed to provide winding curl to the tape through winding the tape on a tapered hub with inclination and a heat treatment to fix the winding curl.

  • Patent number: 7017853
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for fabricating a laminate product having a pair of sheet materials spaced by a plurality of flexible parallel vanes which are secured to the sheet material so that planar movement of the sheet materials in opposite directions cause the vanes to shift between open and closed positions. The vane material is formed from a web of material by dyeing the material, drying the dyed material, applying spaced longitudinally extending lines of adhesive on opposite faces of the material, and cutting the material into a plurality of side-by-side strips with each strip having a bead of adhesive on each face and along opposite side edges. The cut material with adhesive applied thereto is taken up on a transfer roll and moved to a vane/strip handling station where the strips of material are processed and delivered to a laminating station in parallel overlapping relationship with each other.

  • Patent number: 6932295
Abstract: A tape reel within a tape path is disclosed for storing a tape. The tape reel includes a first flange having an inner surface and an outer surface. The first flange is attached to a hub. The tape reel also includes a second flange attached to the hub. The second flange is substantially parallel to the first flange. The second flange has an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface of the second flange is tapered with respect to the axis of the hub. The reel is tilted with respect to a plane of the tape path so that the tapered inner surface is moved so that it is located in a plane that is horizontal to a plane of the tape path at the point of exit of the tape from the tape reel.

  • Patent number: 6786445
Abstract: A spool system for packing tape on a hub. The spool has upper and lower flanges on the hub, and a flexure positioned on the hub between the two flanges. The flexure is normally parallel to the flanges, but when a force is applied to the tape lead-in edge of the flexure, that edge of the flexure is pressed toward one of the flanges. This causes the tape lead-in side of the spool system to have a wider opening than the tape packing side of the spool system. The width of the space on the tape packing side is preferably equal to or narrower than the width of the tape to be packed, so that the flexure presses against the edge of tape as it loads, reducing stagger of the tape.

  • Patent number: 6669818
Abstract: A dry end of a tissue machine is made shorter by close-coupling a reel-up to the drying section and supporting the web from the drying section to the reel-up by a foil or a belt such that web stability is maintained, thus allowing high-speed operation. The foil's downstream edge can form a nip with the paper roll and nip load can be controlled by controlling pivotal movement of the foil. The reel-up can include a calendering belt for calendering the web as it passes through a nip between the belt and a reel drum supported on the belt, and a rotatable reel spool on which a paper roll is wound in nipping engagement with the reel drum. Alternatively, the reel drum can be eliminated and the paper roll can be supported on the belt. A composite shaftless core for winding is also disclosed.
