Patent number: 9908654Abstract: An apparatus for storing, transporting and dispensing conveyor belts is described. The apparatus, in the form of a crate, has top and bottom conventional pallets, allowing for easy handling and strength for additional stacked crates. The center of the crate holds a hub assembly that moves rotationally, and allows smooth transition from consecutive layers of the conveyor belt wrapped thereon. During shipment, the roll of conveyor belt lies on its side. In one embodiment, a center pipe axle of the spool passes through holes in the top and bottom pallets. Alternatively, the center pipe axle passes through channels created between planks of the top and bottom pallets. These configurations secure the roll in the crate, and allow it to turn freely when loaded or unloaded.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2013Date of Patent: March 6, 2018Assignee: ASHWORTH BROS., INC.Inventors: Paul Steinhoff, Joseph Allen Bowen, Darroll Joseph Neely

Patent number: 8127583Abstract: A mandrel for winding sheet metal has a generally tubular mandrel body extending along and centered on an axis and formed at one end with a plurality of radially throughgoing and angularly spaced apertures each having a pair of closed and axially confronting end faces, a spreading bar extending axially inside the body and having a respective pivot adjacent each of the apertures, respective rigid links extending through the apertures and having inner ends carried on the respective pivots and outer ends projecting outside the body, and respective segments outside the body and each pivoted on the outer end of a respective one of the links. Respective pressure plates are operatively connected at the one end between the segments and the mandrel body.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2007Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: SMS Demag AGInventors: Matthias Kipping, Ali Bona, Thomas Holzhauer, Juergen Merz, Michael Braukmann

Patent number: 7424987Abstract: Coiling device (10) and relative coiling method for rolled or drawn long products, comprising a mandrel (11), arranged cantilevered and rotatable with respect to a central longitudinal axis (X), and on which the long products are wound in adjacent and superimposed spirals (33), in order to form a compact coil (31) having the geometric shape of a circular ring with lateral flanks substantially orthogonal, or very angled, with respect to the central longitudinal axis (X). The mandrel (11) comprises a flange (12) substantially orthogonal, or very angled, with respect to the central longitudinal axis (X) which defines a first lateral flank of the coil (31). The mandrel (11) also comprises first arm elements (13) which define the cylindrical surface of the core that forms the coil (31), and second arm elements (14), opposite the flange (12), which define a second flank of the coil. The first and the second arm elements (13,14) are mobile between a first coil-forming position and a second coil-removal position.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2005Date of Patent: September 16, 2008Assignee: Danieli & C. Patent number: 6345781Abstract: A self-adjusting payoff comprising a frame, and a pivoting spool mounted in the frame. The pivoting spool comprises an axle, at least three pivot assemblies slideably mounted on the axle and an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the location of the pivot assemblies relative to the axle. Each of the pivot assemblies comprises a pair of freely rotating, parallel arms extending radially from the axle toward and rotatably attached to coil supports that, when the pivoting spool is adjusted to its most extended position as described hereinafter, extend parallel to the axle. Operation of the adjustment mechanism causes movement of the extremities of the parallel arms proximate the axle to move inward or outward along the axle thereby adjusting the relative distance between the axle and the supports permitting acceptance of variously sized coils by the payoff.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2000Date of Patent: February 12, 2002Assignee: Metal Accessories, LLCInventor: Carl W.
