Longitudinally Shiftable Operator Patents (Class 242/572)
  • Patent number: 9623570
Abstract: A device in which the gripping action is achieved by a compliant membrane that adapts itself to the object to be lifted and then maintains such shape throughout the displacement of the object. The gripping force provided by the present invention is best suited for delicate objects, as it gently applies the gripping force necessary for displacement. This is accomplished through a chamber, a deformable membrane delimiting the chamber partially or entirely, and a means for changing the volume or shape of the chamber determined by the deformation of the membrane.

  • Publication number: 20150129710
Abstract: An adjustable mandrel for use with cored, or coreless rolls of stretch film is disclosed. The mandrel comprises a cylindrical shaft and a sheath. The shaft and sheath each comprise slanted regions that slide against each other when the shaft is moved relative to the sheath, and this sliding movement causes the radial displacement of the sheath such that the mandrel expands to press against the inner surface of a roll of stretch film. The displaced sheath portions retract when the shaft and sheath are disengaged and can be moved from the roll and reused. The even pressure exerted by the mandrel across the roll prevents deformation of the roll and waste of the film.

  • Patent number: 7770838
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of releasing a reel awe, which is hydraulically restrained by a self-locking effect by means of inwardly located wedge surfaces of expansion elements. Removal of a coil from a reel awe is achieved, without problems, by lifting off the self-locking effect of the expansion elements at least partially or completely by applying longitudinal vibrations acting in an axial direction. The invention also relates to a correspondingly formed device.

  • Publication number: 20090308968
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a dispenser for use with rolls of film material, particularly coreless rolls. The mandrels of the dispenser can move between a retracted position wherein the dispenser has a reduced diameter, such as for when the dispenser is being inserted into a roll of film, and an increased diameter, such as for when the film is being dispensed from the dispenser. The mandrels have sections which are joined by various spring configurations and are formed as being axially slidable with respect to a central shaft with lug elements. As the mandrel is slid along the central shaft, the lug elements deflect the spring configurations outwardly so as move the mandrels radially outwardly and increase the radius of the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 7536763
Abstract: A core adapter formed as a hollow cylindrical sleeve. A plurality of apertures extend through the sleeve, parallel to the sleeve's longitudinal axis. A plurality of radial apertures are formed in the sleeve for each longitudinal aperture. Each radial aperture is perpendicular to sleeve's axis and intersects a longitudinal aperture. Studs are provided in each radial aperture, initially recessed beneath the sleeve's outer surface. The sleeve's outside diameter is sized for insertion into a 6-inch inside diameter core. The sleeve's inside diameter is the same size as a 3-inch inside diameter core. The adapter is inserted into a 6-inch core until it is flush with the end of the core. Wedge-tipped bars are driven into each of the adapter's longitudinally aligned rows of studs, and against the bottom of each stud, thereby driving the studs perpendicularly away from the sleeve's axis into the core.

  • Patent number: 7299846
Abstract: A tool is used to remove a material strip from a surface. The tool has a collapsible body configurable in expanded and collapsed configurations. The expanded configuration allows the strip to be wound about the body while the strip is being removed from a surface. While the strip is wrapped about the body, the body may be collapsed to the collapsed configuration and then removed from the inside of the rolled strip.

  • Patent number: 5383625
Abstract: A reel holder for use in a tape winding apparatus comprises a cylindrical drum unit which is rotated by the tape winding apparatus. A plurality of lock pins are radially movably mounted in a peripheral portion of the drum unit. Each each lock pin is axially movable between a projected position wherein an outer end thereof is projected outwardly from a cylindrical outer wall of the drum unit and a retracted position wherein the outer end thereof is retracted into the drum unit. First and second buttons are mounted on an axial end of the drum unit. Each button is movable in parallel with the axis of the drum unit between raised and depressed positions with respect to the axial end of the drum unit. A transmission device is installed in the drum unit and operated in such a manner as to move the lock pins to the projected position when the first button is moved to the depressed position and permit the lock pins to return to the retracted position when the second button is moved to the depressed position.
