Patent number: 8480023Abstract: A cable reel or cable reel assembly is provided for storing, deploying, retrieving and transporting a cable assembly (having a cable and connectors). The cable reel includes a central hub and two side flanges constructed, in one embodiment, of composite plastic material having reinforcing material(s). An annular rim and spaced apart spoke sections in each side flange function to provide multiple carrying handles. In a specific embodiment, a secondary hub (and third flange) adjacent the central hub is positioned and disposed within a side periphery defined by the annular rim of one of the side flanges enabling two cable reels to be stacked together such that the annular rims of respective cable reels may be in close or actual contact. In another embodiment, a retractable handle is disposed within the side periphery when in the retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2011Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: Applied Optical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Venkata R. Penumatcha, Vincent A. Wouters, Rodney M. Flower

Patent number: 6908060Abstract: A retail electrical wire reel caddy has a steel frame which may be rested upright, the upper portion of the caddy serving as a handle. The back has a slight angled configuration allowing easy grasp for lifting from prone to upright positions. The reel is of identical front and rear circular members, the outer member being turned to face the rear member so as to interlock āUā-shaped wire coil supports which are integral with supporting spokes extending between an outer rims and inner reel hubs. The caddy has a shaft extending forward from a mounting plate located on the back vertical portion of the frame, the frame having a forward extending base portion extending beneath the reel for stability.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2003Date of Patent: June 21, 2005Inventor: Patrick A. Patent number: 6651926Abstract: A metallic reel construction wherein spokes (C) are welded at spaced locations directly to end plates (B) and to rims (A). The end plates receive the staves (D) that are directly and rigidly affixed thereto in spaced relation to provide a relatively small hub providing rigidity and yet being capable of receiving a large amount of flexible material. Threaded members (E) rigidly connect the rigid rim and hub end plate assemblies adjacent to the ends of the staves for speedy assembly permitting shipment while disassembled.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2002Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Inventor: William J. Patent number: 6450440Abstract: The present invention relates to a reel for winding yarn. The reel is formed from a plurality of identical modular elements. Each modular element is a single rod having a plurality of bends. The modular elements are disposed in a series of adjacent elements which are welded to one another at two points between each adjacent element.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2000Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Compagnucci - S.p.A.Inventor: Rossano Compagnucci

Publication number: 20020063185Abstract: The present invention discloses a multi-compartment paralleling reel that allows different sets of wire to be drawn from the paralleling reel independently of each other. The multi-compartment paralleling reel includes a plurality of independent compartments. Each independent compartment can store a set of wire. A shaft mounted through the plurality of independent compartments allows each independent compartment to rotate relative to the shaft and allows each independent compartment to rotate independently of the other independent compartments. Thus, each set of wire can be drawn from each independent compartment of the multi-compartment paralleling reel independently of the other independent compartments. This allows the different sets of wire, which may include wires that have different diameter sizes, to be drawn from the independent compartments at different rates of speed or the same speed, depending upon what is desired.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2000Publication date: May 30, 2002Inventors: John Shields, Steve Szalay, Cliff Thompson

Patent number: 6276631Abstract: A winding reel which can be placed on another similar free winding reel so that they can be stored or carried in a comparatively small space and is convenient to carry or handle. The winding reel includes a hollow core section, and first and second flange sections provided at the opposite ends of the core section. The core section includes four core wire pieces extending in an axial direction thereof. The first flange section includes a first flange wire piece extending radially outwardly from a first end of each of the core wire pieces in a plane perpendicular to the axis and a connection wire piece for connecting outer ends of adjacent ones of the first flange wire pieces. The second flange section includes a second flange wire piece extending radially outwardly from a second end of each of the core wire pieces in a plane perpendicular to the axis and a third flange wire piece extending radially inwardly from the second end of each of the core wire pieces in the plane perpendicular to the axis.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2000Date of Patent: August 21, 2001Assignee: Tsubakimoto Chain Co.Inventors: Katsuhiko Mio, Shigeo Kitagawa, Takashi Mitsufuji, Teruo Nakajima
