    Abstract: An improved reel assembly comprised of two identically molded semi-circular core halves having a pair of reel flanges on each end thereof that requires no fasteners. The core halves and reel flanges are constructed and arranged to connect without the need for fasteners to form an improved reel assembly for receipt of a flexible hose. The halves include a plurality of radially extending cross-braces having a conical cross-section. On opposite ends of each half is included a pair of radially extending tubular members having a hollow body and conical cross-section. Each half has opposite reciprocating cross-braces that interlock, as well as opposite reciprocating tubular members that insert within each other to create a strong connection between the halves. The improved reel assembly creates a stronger reel core structure that resists crushing of the reel and separation between the reel halves from a pressurized hose wound thereon.

Cooperating slots and tongues on the rings and core elements prevent the flanges from moving relative to the core in the direction of the axis of the core. Resiliently bendable locking arms protrude radially inward from both ends of each core segment, and each locking arm is engageable by a snap fit with one of the rings when the core segments are brought together. Access openings in the flanges adjacent each of the locking arms allow access to the locking arms for disengagement from the rings.

The tape reel 20 which has the hub 22 having, at least a portion of an outer peripheral surface, a portion whose diameter is larger than diameters of each of the end portions of the hub, is thereby easily formed.

    Abstract: A motion picture reel is provided with releaseably engageable and disengageable components including a pair of identical, laterally confining retaining members and a hub located therebetween. The retaining members and the hub are all separable from each other. Each retaining member has a prong with a catch on it and a latching member with a latch defined on it located diametrically opposite the prong. The latching members each have radially outwardly diverging side walls. The latching members fit snugly into truncated sector-shaped cavities formed between radial spoke partitions between the central core and the rim of the hub. Stiffening webs extended transversely across the hub between some of the spoke partitions and have apertures in them that allow passage of the prongs through the stiffening webs and into engagement with the latching lips of the latching projections beyond. The tips of the prongs are accessible for release through the open bases of the latching members.

    Abstract: The apparatus is a carrier tape reel assembly formed of two reel halves. The reel halves include hub portions which further include male detent elements which are rotationally symmetric with each other and likewise include female detent elements which are rotationally symmetric with each other. The male and female detent elements, however, include rotationally asymmetric elements to assure that the two halves are properly aligned so that the open tape slots of the two reel halves are properly aligned. The male and female detent elements are further engaged by a longitudinal motion, without the need for rotational movement during engagement. Stacking apertures are formed rotationally midway between adjacent detent elements to permit the stacking of reel halves, whereby the reel halves are facing in the same direction, but are rotated so that the male detent elements pass through the stacking apertures free of detent engagement.

The mating surfaces are also configured such as to prevent the fine coil wire from slipping between the mating surfaces of the two bobbin halves as the coil is being wound. The latching features of one bobbin half slidingly engage the latching features of the other bobbin half such that the two bobbin halves are held together. The locking features of the two bobbin halves also engage to prevent unintentional longitudinal movement between the two bobbin halves prior to winding the coil wire on the bobbin.

Each flexible plate is provided with tooth-shaped protrusions formed on the front and back ends of the flexible plate. The reel is so designed as to be formed by bringing the flanges into contact with both ends of the reel hub and pushing the flanges to engage the flexible plates with the tooth-shaped protrusions in stopper portions formed in the flanges. The tooth-shaped protrusions of each flexible plate can be disengaged by pushing the flexible plate from the outside of either flange in such a direction as to disengage the tooth-shaped protrusions.
