  • Patent number: 9694972
Abstract: Ring for securing a bag to a waste container support includes an annular portion including an upper wall, an inner circumferential wall extending downward from an inner edge region of the upper wall and an outer circumferential wall extending downward from an outer edge region of the upper wall. An annular channel is defined on an underside of the annular portion. The inner and/or outer wall includes pinches each including a pair of slots extending upward from a lower edge of the wall. The slots are spaced apart from one another to enable a solid portion of the wall therebetween to temporarily flex outward, which aids in engagement and disengagement of the ring to a projection on the support, with a bag being sandwiched between the ring and projection and thereby secured to the support. Tabs may extend upward from the upper wall to aid in handling of the ring.

  • Patent number: 9527666
Abstract: A portable tool transports and manipulates disposable trash bags with a pair of cooperating, displaceable jaws coupled to a rigid, peripheral frame. The substantially circular frame conceals the jaws when retracted within suitable peripheral grooves in which the jaws nest. A manual activator compressively attached to the frame midsection supports a pistol-grip handle and associated trigger mechanism. Each jaw has a pivoted hub portion with integral, projecting levers concealed within a clutch mechanism. A trigger deflects a cable to pivot the hub levers and deploy the jaws. When the jaws are displaced outwardly, upper edges of a bag may occupy the space between the jaws and the frame. When the trigger is released, the jaws retract in response to spring pressure, nesting within the frame peripheral grooves. The jaws thus securely grasp and captivate a bag, the upper periphery of which is sandwiched between the frame and the seated jaws.

  • Publication number: 20130313378
Abstract: One common problem when doing trash clean up is that the mouths of thin (often plastic) bags have a tendency to collapse when carried by hand. This collapse closes the mouth of the bag, making it difficult to place material inside. The invention comprises a frame that the bag is installed over. Attached to the frame are flaps connected to the frame via living hinges. On each flap are snaps that have corresponding matched mating parts on the frame itself. When the flaps are closed, the matched mating parts interface in such a way as to snap closed, locking the bag open securely between the flaps and frame. When built into the top of a waste bin, the invention prevents the sides of the bag from falling into the bin.

Place a portion of a trash bag inside the container with the outside portion of the trash bag folded down along the trash can wall. Engage the two magnetically coupled pieces to fold part of the trash bag around them. The folding(s) reduces the force needed to hold the trash bag in place at the coupling portion of the two retainer pieces. The apparatus can be easily operated with one hand.

Abstract: The versatile support apparatus has an assembly including a plurality of substantially rigid longitudinal members. At least one substantially flexible member may be coupled transversally to a portion of each of the plurality of longitudinal members. Each longitudinal member of the plurality of longitudinal members may be repositioned about a longitudinal axis of the longitudinal member. A portion of a first end of a first longitudinal side of the assembly may be selectively coupled to a portion of an opposite second end of an opposite second longitudinal side of the assembly. When the portion of the first end is coupled to the portion of the opposite second end, the support apparatus is configured to support an object within an inner portion of the assembly.
