Abstract: A unitary one-piece holder for removably retaining and spreading open a trash bag. The holder includes a pair of retainer halves, each of which has a respective internal face, first adjoining edge that adjoin one another and second remote edge. The halves are joined together along the respective adjoining edges thereof by at least one hinge. The halves are pivotable about the hinge in a first closed direction and in a second open direction. In the first direction, the remote edges and the internal faces are moved toward one another for closing the device with a "snap-action" and clamping at least a portion of the bag therebetween, so that the bag is at least partially spread open. In the second direction, the remote edges and the internal faces are moved away from one another for opening the device and unclamping and releasing the trash bag from therebetween.

Abstract: A fixed or removable inner ring device for supporting a flexible bag liner inside a trash receptacle is configured in such a manner as to provide air gaps or vent spaces between the inner ring and the inside of the trash container, thereby enabling release of trapped air upon insertion of a flexible bag liner into the trash container. Additionally, the ring device permits the use of different sized of liner bags and provides for a neat appearance by eliminating unsightly overhang of the liner top outside the trash container.

Abstract: An accessory for disposition in an automotive vehicle to support a disposable trash bag, a liquid-containment bottle, and two drinking cups. The trash bag is suspended from a platform that is located below a liftable clamp plate; the plate exerts a clamping pressure on the upper edge areas of the trash bag to retain it in a suspended position. The liquid containment bottle is located equidistantly from the two drinking cups such that the bottle can be swiveled around its central axis to orient a discharge spout above either drinking cup for pouring purposes.

Abstract: A bag handling system used to facilitate the filling of bag by holding the bag open. The bag handling system is comprised of an inner locking frame through which the open end of a bag is passed such that it can be folded over the inner frame. The inner frame is then inserted in and secured into the channel of an outer base frame. The outer base frame includes an integrated hand grip and rails for the attachment of an extension handle/support leg. The outer base frame also has guide grooves for the attachment of a sweep pan to channelize the fill into a bag.

Abstract: A trash bag securement device includes a continuous loop member defined by a planar body wall, with a scalloped top edge and a planar continuous bottom edge. The top edge includes downwardly depending grasping fingers formed with an arcuate upper surface and a planar lower surface. The fingers taper and narrow from the top edge to their free forward terminal end to grasp and secure a trash bag liner between an interior wall of a trash can and the free end of the fingers. The liner is preferably formed of flexible memory retentent materials.

Abstract: In order to permit easy and hygienic disposal of e.g. sanitary towels in a cloakroom, a bag retainer can be fitted on the wall, and a bag (4) can be hung on the retainer. The retainer comprises a traversing resilient carrier rail (3) on which a bag is hung (4) which is provided with a flap (5) at its mouth and which is downwardly open and designed to fit the reception of the carrier rail (3). The flap (5) and the carrier rail (3) have sloping side edges (7, 8) and are dimensioned so as to allow the bag to slide further down over the carrier rail (3) once the bag is stretched lengthwise with a view to keeping the rim stretched and the bag closed.When the mouth of the bag is to be opened, one pulls out the uttermost part of the mouth, and when the bag is to be closed, one lets go of the mouth part whereby the resilient carrier rail will close the mouth of the bag.

Abstract: A novel apparatus for catching leaves, trash, yard trimmings or other debris is provided, the apparatus being particularly adapted to catch debris without having to hold the plastic bag or apparatus open by any person. The novel apparatus includes a housing fabricated from plastic, metal or the like, frontal opening for receiving the debris and rear opening of which the edges define a lip and channel where a strap or bag retainer is used to hold a plastic trash or lawn bag to the apparatus so that it will not slip off when in use. The apparatus can also be used as a portable trash can by hooking onto a wall or other forms. In addition the apparatus can be used as a trash receptacle for holding a small amount of debris until a bag can be attached. Finally, the apparatus is provided with attachment for handles of various sizes and shapes for different uses or for the comfort of the person using the apparatus.

Abstract: A bag restraining system, and method of its use is diclosed. The bag restraining system, in its preferred embodiment, provides a device that can be easily attached to existing two wheel transport units while providing a vast range of vertical and horizontal adjustment necessary to effectively restrain and accommodate bages of various lengths and/or diamters. The system provides for the quick and easy removal of the protruding elements, on which bags are restrained, from the two wheel transport unit to allow immediate use of the two wheel transport unit in a material transport capacity when desired. The system incorporates automatic gripping, force controlling and distributing compressible material elements which, either alone or in conjunction with forces developed by rotating members, control and distribute the restraining forces exerted on a restrained bag. The system also provides for quick and easy bag release.

Abstract: A waste separation container for selectively separating and storing waste material includes a receptacle with an upper edge with slits in its opening upwardly to receive and hold a plurality of thin plastic bags in an open position. The slits are preferably defined by flexible lobes, contiguous one another and extending along the upper edge of the receptacle. Preferably, a closure for the receptacle is provided, that has specifically designated through apertures that allow for discernable placement of recyclable material in a correspondingly appropriate compartment or bag. The provision of strips of flexible material with lobes defining between them bag-retaining slits, either to be mounted on existing containers, on partitions for existing containers or holders to be placed in existing containers permits retrofitting of existing waste receptacles to accomplish the object of making easy the segregation of waste as it is generated.

Abstract: A system for supporting and holding open a container is provided which includes a mounting element which is adapted to be secured to a support, such as a vertical surface, and a mechanism to receive and hold a bag in an open position. The bag receiving and holding mechanism is pivotally connected to the mounting element. A biasing mechanism, with a predetermined load bearing capacity, is connected between the mounting element and the receiving and holding mechanism in a manner such that the receiving and holding mechanism is normally oriented in a substantially horizontal position above a floor. When a bag is held in place in the system and a load is placed in the bag, such that the bag and its load exceed the load bearing capacity of the biasing mechanism, the biasing mechanism will be overcome; thereby, allowing the receiving and holding mechanism to pivot downwardly so that the bag can be supported by the floor or the wall on which the system is mounted.

Abstract: A trash bag retainer includes a generally cylindrical wire frame having fixed bottom and upper support rings connected by vertical support members. A hinged clamping ring overlies the fixed upper support ring for frictionally clamping a plastic trash bag within the wire frame. A counter weight has an apertured lobe mounted for pivotal movement on the upper support ring and has an upper end portion provided with a recess which receives an edge portion of the clamping ring for retaining the clamping ring in an open position during installation of a trash bag. A ground insertion spike is mounted on the bottom support ring for movement between operative and retracted positions. In the operative position, the ground inserted spike retains the wire frame at a desired location. A plurality of rings are provided on the wire frame for securing the frame to a stationary object and for retaining the clamping ring in a closed position.

Abstract: A bag holder is disclosed which is insertable into the ground surface, and which includes a bag holding ring which is pivotable between a folded, nonuse position, and an open use position. The ring is also vertically adjustable to accomodate different size of bags.

Abstract: A trash bag holding bracket device which has a frame, which is preferably of a rectangular shape and which, preferably, includes means for the adjustability of the shape of such frame is disclosed. Attachment, in either a removable or fixed manner, is achieved by a plurality of clips, preferably located at points along the frame wherein such clips can adequately support the frame of the invention within the dimensions of the trash basket being used. The plurality of clips are to engage the upper rim of the trash basket in a manner wherein the clips surround the upper rim of the basket. Preferably, the clips are also shaped in a manner in which their shape reinforces the securement of the clips to the top portion of the basket.

Abstract: A bag apparatus for support on the door of a cabinet or some like supporting structure. The bag apparatus includes spaced and parallel upright sides including upper and lower portions and a detachable open frame coupling the sides and resting thereupon. The open frame defines a mouth through which a plastic bag depends, the bag having a peripheral margin adapted for being draped over the frame. A lower member extends between and is detachable from the sides. This lower member is capable of supporting the bottom of a bag draped over the frame and is further provided for supporting a source of replacement bags. A cover is pivotally connected to the sides for closing the mouth defined by the frame. The cover, sides, open frame, and lower member are detachable from one another and adapted to be packed together in a flat compact structure of nesting parts in order to conserve shelf space for marketing. The sides are provided with receptacles in which may be stored ties for closing bags which are used.

Abstract: Presented in three different aspects is a bag stand for supporting limp plastic bags with or without handles in an upright position. The bag stand is formed by two identical metal frames connected together by connectors to produce a frame having a generally square top shape over which the open mouth of a gusseted plastic bag having handles can be cuffed, with the handles or the cuffed perimeter of the bag hooked in open slots on the connectors, to thus support the normally limp plastic bag in an upright open-mouth condition for the reception of refuse or articles of merchandise. Lateral adjustment can be made to the frame to compensate for variance in size of gusseted plastic bags.

Abstract: A trash bag support stand is formed of two semi-circular bars, secured together on a pair of legs. Complementary coupling components on the ends of the bars are snapped together to form complete rings that are supported horizontally above the ground to receive and emcompass a trash bag. The trash bag is folded back over the top ring and held in place by tabs. When not in use the semi-circular bars are separated and nested for hanging.

Abstract: A holder for mounting a plastic bag from a mower guide having a transverse handle and a pair of downwardly and forwardly extending legs, the holder having a rectangular frame defining a vertical opening for admitting a plastic bag therethrough which is folded along its upper edge about the fame and held thereon by a clasp which is mounted on an upright leg connected to the frame, the upright leg is hooked at its upper end over the handle and the side portions of the frame being provided with laterally extending hooks which hook about the legs of the mower guide, the frame being resilient and the laterally extending hooks being stretchable to resiliently embrace said side portion to hold the frame and bag assembly from bouncing loose when moving with the mower.

Abstract: A support and retention device for attachment to a top perimeter of a plastic trash bag at its opening and useful for positioning the bag at the bumper of a recreational vehicle or in similar applications. The device comprises a pair of U-shaped support members which are rotationally attached at distal ends thereof to form a continuous perimeter configuration which is capable of being closed to a U-shaped configuration. A pair of elongated gripping members corresponding in configuration to horizontal elements of the support members are movably coupled together by coupling structure which enables selection of (i) an open position wherein the gripping member is slightly displaced away from the support member to permit insertion of a portion of the top perimeter of a trash bag therebetween, and (ii) a closed position wherein the bag top perimeter is caught between the gripping member and support member in fixed position.

Abstract: An open mouth receptacle adapted for mounting on a vertically disposed surface, such as a door or wall, is provided for receipt of articles, such as newspapers and packages, delivered to a residence. The receptacle is fabricated from flexible material and has its mouth bounded by facing strips of a relatively rigid and elastic material; the rigid strip assisting in the mounting of the receptacle and the elastic strip tending to normally retain the mouth of the receptacle in a closed condition.

Abstract: A two piece portable and upright trash bag supporting device having a frame member removably retaining the open end of a conventional flexible trash bag to an opening in an upright unit. The unit has an inclined ramp leading into the unit opening and, thus, into the bag. A handle is provided at the upper end of the unit for holding the same while sweeping trash, leaves, grass and other debris into the bag. After filling the bag, the frame member and attached bag is removed from the unit, the frame member is removed from the bag and the bag is discarded.

Abstract: A trash bag holder having a hoop and rim frame assembly pivoted together to loop an edge of the trash bag thereabout, and the hoop has a feathered edge to facilitate debris throughpassage and to hold the rim. A support base is also provided.

Abstract: A mail receptacle is disclosed in the form of a pouch which attaches to the periphery of a mail slot on the interior of a door or wall of a residence or building to receive mail therein which is inserted through the slot. Part or all of the pouch material is transparent to provide a visual indication of mail delivery. A zipper opening is provided in the pouch to retrieve delivered mail from the pouch. A flap is provided as extra protection against air drafts.

Abstract: A trash bag liner retaining and air venting device is attachable to a trash receptacle. The device includes a rim adapted to being removably secured to a top of a trash receptacle such that an upper region of a flexible liner is drapable thereover. A locking ring is provided which receives the rim in nested relationship and thus captures the liner therebetween. Preferably, an integral hinge joins the rim and the locking ring so that the latter is capable of pivotal movements relative to the former. Thus, the locking ring and the rim are movable into and out of engagement with one another to respectively positionally capture and release the liner.

Abstract: Plastic bags used for grass clippings, leaves and other types of garden refuse are difficult to hold open during the filling thereof and although hoop assemblies are known which are wall or ground supported, these are not portable and the debris has to be picked up and transported to the bag and elevated to the open top thereof which may be some three feet from the ground or supporting surface. The present device is a hand-held hoop of resilient plastic tubing with resilient clamps spaced around the hoop to hold the upper end of a plastic bag attached to the hoop. This permits the bag to be held horizontally to the ground thus facilitating the placement of garden debris and the like to be scooped or urged into the bag. A mesh holder for the bag may be used if desired to support the load of the bag and prevent inadvertent displacement thereof from the hoop.

Abstract: A bag holder comprises a closed loop of generally U-shaped cross-section having an outwardly facing open sided channel. A flexible bag has its open neck extending upwardly through a central opening of the loop and is folded over the loop to cover the open sided channel. An elastic loop is received in the open sided channel to captivate the entire periphery of the sack in the channel. A handle extends from below the free edge of the sack to a radially spaced location where it can be grasped by the user.

Abstract: An improved bag holding device for holding and spreading the open end of a thin walled plastic trash bag includes a pair of cooperating elongated spreader bar members one of which is adapted to be mounted on a supporting wall in outwardly spaced parallel relation to the wall and the other of which is adapted to be releasably mounted on the first. The two spreader bar members have opposing clamping surfaces adapted to cooperate and clamp a portion of the bag wall adjacent the open mouth to support the bag and hold the mouth open for receiving refuse.

Abstract: The invention provides a support structure for suspending an open bag from a wall and the like, such as the door of a kitchen cupboard, the support structure having a hoop including a flat rear portion of a selected vertical height. The bag is received inside the hoop with the portion adjacent its mouth folded over the top of the hoop. At least one attachment plate is provided for mounting on the wall. The plate has a downwardly projecting lip, and below the lip a ledge spaced from the bottom edge of the lip by less than the selected vertical extent of the hoop, so that the hoop will be retained by engagement of the rear portion behind the lip, while resting on the ledge. The hoop is thus suspended from the wall extending horizontally and with the mouth open to receive items dropped into the bag, the folded-over portion of the bag being trapped between the hoop and the attachment plate to retain the bag in a manner which increases with the weight in the bag.

Abstract: A support for a flexible trash receptacle comprising an upper ring, a plurality of support legs secured in spaced relation at their lower ends and secured at their upper ends to said upper ring for supporting said upper ring, a removable lid assembly comprising a lid member and first and second hinge members, a flexible trash receptacle having an open top positioned within the support and having its open top extending upwardly thorugh the upper ring and turned downwardly around the outside of the upper ring, the lid assembly and the flexible trash receptacle being secured to the upper ring by a resilient band encircling the upper ring and connected to the first hinge member, and the lid member being secured to the second hinge member in position such as to cover the upper ring and the open top of the flexible trash receptacle when in the closed position.

Abstract: A trash compactor is disclosed which has a wheeled bin within a trash compactor cabinet. The bin is adapted to contain a trash bag and the trash compacted therein and then may be withdrawn partially from the cabinet so that a handle may be inserted downwardly into vertical apertures in the front of the bin. A fixed pin and latches provide a reaction means to secure the handle in a downward position in the bin front, and this also secures the front wheels of the bin in a downward position of a lost motion between the front wheels and the bin. The wheeled bin may then be completely removed from the cabinet and wheeled to the disposal site. The container front may be unlatched and hinged forwardly and downwardly so that the trash bag may be pulled horizontally out of the wheeled bin for ready removal.

Abstract: A collapsible bag frame includes a one piece part which defines a frame, a mounting member, and two tabs. The mounting member is hinged to the frame, and the tabs are hinged to the frame. A bag such as a garbage bag is secured to the frame by a wire clamp. The tabs are movable from a first position, in which the frame is allowed to rest alongside a wall, and a second position, in which the tabs hold the frame out from the wall, thereby positioning the frame for use.

Abstract: A structure including a collapsible and retractable frame to fit or go inside a plastic bag of a type used for gathering leaves, weeds and/or clippings of grass, bulky materials such as garbage or trash, paper towels or other disposable items to be packaged in the plastic bag. The frame has four upright corner or side rods pivotally interconnected by double hinges relative to four upper rod members and four intermediate rod members without any bottom interconnections. Rubber tips are fitted to lower free ends of each of the four upright corner or side rods. A semicircular handle has opposite ends thereof twisted pivotally to a pair of parallel upper rod members so that the frame can be fitted and unfolded in a plastic bag as well as removed therefrom and folded flat for storage purposes. Clips are used to hold the plastic bag to the four upper rod members.

Abstract: Apparatus to fill any lined semibulk bag-like container, and through mechanical functions, to remove any twists or creases which could hamper the loading or unloading process. During filling, the apparatus will automatically separate the liner from the bag, except for the bottom section which is tied. The liner is then inflated to remove any twists after which product flow is activated at a trickle rate. After an automatically sensor-controlled amount of product has flowed into the inner liner at the trickle rate, the liner is lowered to full load position and the product flow is automatically activated to full flow at a greater rate. When a second set point is reached, the trickle rate is automatically activated again to top off the container to the predetermined amount of product, after which the unit turns off for container removal.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for securing a filter bag in hanging suspension through an opening in a baffle plate in a bag housing, including a cover plate having an upwardly extending mouth and a downwardly extending sleeve, a pair of U-shaped clamps constraining the bag against the cover plate, and tensile spring members connected between the U-shaped clamps and over the cover plate.

Abstract: A holder for a waste-disposal bag, to be installed in a confined space such as the interior of a passenger automobile, has a mounting bracket secured to an upright wall to which a rectangular frame is articulated for swinging about a horizontal pivotal axis from a depending position into a level position in which it is arrested by a stop. A lid overlying the frame is biased by a torsion spring into a closure position and has an edge portion projecting beyond the frame engageable by a user's finger for swinging the frame from its depending position into its level position and, thereupon, lifting the lid off the frame in the same motion to give access to a bag suspended from a rectangular insert inside the frame. The insert, which like the frame and its lid consists of plastic material, is resiliently indexed in the frame and rests against internal abutments thereof which are integral with a ledge forming an abutment for the torsion spring.

Abstract: A bag holder for supporting and holding open a bag. The bag holder includes an annular outer frame having a central opening and a surrounding lip adapted to receive and retain the open end of a bag. A retaining ring fits inside the central opening of the frame and has an outwardly directed flange with a lower shoulder adapted to overlie the lip on the frame. Positioned on the retaining ring below the shoulder is a gasket. When the retaining ring is inserted into the frame, the gasket bears against a bag on the lip of the frame. The bag is retained by the wedging action of the gasket between the lip and the shoulder. Three angled legs support the frame.

Abstract: The portable leaf and trash collector according to the invention includes a first member with a chute portion on one end, a scoop on the other end, and a groove between the chute and scoop. The chute portion is inserted into the top opening of a plastic bag, and the bag is surrounded by a ring with a handle thereon. The handle is positioned so that it is approximately opposite the chute and the bag is retained between the ring and first member by snapping the ring into the groove.

Abstract: A multiple bag dispenser includes a plurality of nested bags having an exposed inner bag. Each bag includes a detachable lip and a bag body having a mouth which is coupled to the lip. A retaining ring assembly grips the lips of the nested bags and maintains an opening at the mouth of each bag. A tearing pin and a plurality of securing pins couple the nested bags to the retaining ring assembly and permit the bag lip to be detached from the exposed bag to permit removal of the exposed bag from the retaining ring assembly.

The structure has a corner structure defining a notch in at least two of the corner score lines. Elastic band encircles the outside of the box-like structure while residing in the notch. The process comprises the steps of notching the corner score lines of a collapsible box-like structure having a pair of side walls joined to a pair of end walls along the corner score lines; inserting the bag into the mouth of the structure; overlapping the periphery of the mouth of the bag over the edge of the mouth of the structure; encircling the overlapping portion of the bag with the elastic band; and lodging the elastic band over the overlapping portion of the bag and within the notches at the corner score lines so as to hold the bag in an open position and prevent displacement of the bag from the structure.

Abstract: A device which attaches a large flexible trash bag to a convenient support in a manner to hold open the mouth of the bag. In one embodiment the device includes a looped coil spring mounted to and extending from one side of a spreader bar by a removable clip that permits the effective length of the spring to be adjusted. With the upper side portion of the bag draped over the doorknob, the spring is stretched onto the knob to securely attach the bag to the knob with the spreader bar located down in the bag to hold open its mouth. The spreader bar also includes two longitudinally spaced generally U-shaped spring clamps projecting from that side of the bar opposite the spring loop. A portion of the bag at the open end can be draped over the horizontal handle portion of a power lawn mower or snow blower, and the clamps slipped over the draped bag portion thereby to cause the bag to adhere to the handle in spread fashion. In another embodiment only a spreader bar and the clamps are used.

Abstract: Bag holding and supporting apparatus for holding and supporting a bag, especially of the flexible-walled plastic-film type, in an open and upright position for more convenient and efficient placement of articles or merchandise in the bag. The holding and supporting apparatus is situated adjacent a generally horizontal surface on which the bottom of the bag rests and the bag holder resiliently engages an upper sidewall portion of the bag near the top open end. An upright member has a base at the lower end for securing the apparatus relative to the horizontal surface. The upright member includes two portions in telescoping relationship to accommodate different height bags. A supporting head is attached to the upper end of the upright member and is of modified R-shape in cross section with opposing sides of the R-shape adapted to resiliently engage the sidewall of the bag for ease of insertion and removal of the bag from the head.

Abstract: A bag holder removeably mountable on a wall by means of a supporting ring anchored to the holder for providing circumferential support for the open end of a bag, said holder, and having a clamping element pivotally mounted on said ring to permit clamping and anchoring the mouth of the bag to the supporting ring. A cover is also provided for the holder.
