A substantially longitudinal secondary member is received by the positioning support that enables linear movement or linear rotary movement thereon. An open ended mounting clamp is pivotally attached to the distal end of the secondary member. The clamp allows the user to easily secure an item, such as the handle of a hair dryer, and position the dryer in a desired location by movement of the secondary member with respect to the base member. The user can then keep the item in place while having both hands free.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2000Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Inventors: Margo Kidushim, Ralph M. Kidushim

Publication number: 20020017595Abstract: An ergonomic laptop computer support assembly comprises a wheeled base to which a supporting arm assembly in the form of a pair of pantograph arms is rotatably attached. A pivot arm is pivotally attached at one end to the free end of the supporting arm assembly for pivoting in a horizontal plane. A laptop computer-mounting platform is double pivotally attached along one edge to the free end of the pivot arm. Thus, the mounting platform can be selectively pivoted or swung in a horizontal plane and also selectively tilted at a desired angle relative to horizontal. In use, a laptop computer is mounted to the mounting platform and can be positioned at any desired location and orientation for comfortable and convenient use by a user sitting or reclining in a chair.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2001Publication date: February 14, 2002Inventor: Dean Koyanagi

Patent number: 6222728Abstract: An alignment tray for facilitating the docking of a computer to a docking device in which a tray member is adapted to receive the computer and guide the computer into a docking engagement with the docking device. The tray member is pivotal between an extended position in which it receives the computer and a folded position for storage or travel. A second tray member is provided which can either be connected to, or formed integrally with, the first-mentioned tray member and may be pivotally connected to the first-mentioned tray member so that the latter member pivots relative to the additional tray member and the docking device to and from its folded position.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1998Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: Dell USA, L.P.Inventors: Chris Jaggers, Orin Ozias, Bryan Howell, Bryan Hunter

Patent number: 6216989Abstract: A support structure for a body to be supported, such as a display unit, includes a support base, a stand support held upright by the support base, and an attachment member for attaching a body to be supported thereto laterally held by the stand support. The stand support and the attachment member may be coupled to each other in an electrically insulated state. The body to be supported may be mounted on the attachment member via a tilting mechanism for holding the support body at an arbitrarily vertically tilted angle from a home position.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1996Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasushi Shioya, Osamu Hoshino, Takao Miyamoto, Akio Yoshida, Hiroshi Takabayashi, Toyohide Miyazaki, Toshiaki Itazawa, Takashi Yamamoto

Patent number: 6213438Abstract: A computer support for use in a vehicle interior includes a base having a pivotally secured riser bracket coupled thereto. The base is attached to a convenient vehicle surface such as the transmission hump or the like. A pair of telescoping risers are supported by the riser bracket and provide vertical movement of an arm carrier mechanism. The arm carrier in turn supports a pair of pivotally coupled arms which in turn support a platform bracket. A computer platform suitable for receiving and supporting a portable computer is received upon the platform bracket and includes a lock mechanism for securing the computer against unauthorized removal. Adjustments are provided for the vertical heights and horizontal position as well as angular tilt and horizontal angular position of the computer platform. Each adjustment of each position and angle includes apparatus for securing and maintaining a selected position.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Inventors: LeRoy M. Patent number: 6192808Abstract: A folding table includes a folding table top and a framework typically mounted on casters or rollers. A linkage provides for folding of the table top between a use position wherein the table top is substantially horizontal and a storage position wherein the tabletop is substantially vertical. The linkage includes a table top frame member having a slot and c-channel formed therein slidably mounted on a pivot at a top of the framework. A linkage arm extends between one end of the table top frame member and the frame. A latch pivotally mounts to the table top frame member and moves between an engaged and disengaged position wherein the frame pivot is retained. A latch holder also slidably mounts on the table top frame member and is selectively engageable with a lift surface of the latch member to lift the latch out of engagement with the pivot.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1999Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Assignee: Sico IncorporatedInventor: Richard C. Patent number: 6173928Abstract: A pump stabilizer stabilizes the position of the needle of a cylinder-type hand-held sport ball pump relative to the sport ball assuring that the needle is not bent or broken-off during the inflation pumping action, while permitting the pump cylinder to be held in one hand and the pump piston handle to be held in the other in typical fashion. The outer cylinder of the pump is fitted with a sliding peripheral ring. The needle end of the pump includes a mounting ring having three mounting tabs or brackets equilaterally spaced about the ring. Three legs are pivotably mounted on the sliding ring and secured to the mounting ring by hinged extensions, permitting the sliding ring to move along the axis of the cylinder and the legs to telescope in and out relative to the cylinder. When the needle is inserted in the orifice of the ball, the legs are telescoped down along the cylinder until they are in firm engagement with the ball. A locking device secures the assembly in place during the pumping action.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1999Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Inventor: Andrew Owen Coats
