Abstract: A spring-loaded shelf for an existing beverage cooler, which obviates the need for a user to reach more deeply within the confines of the cooler for a beverage as the contents of the cooler become depleted. The spring-loaded shelf has a base, a platform pivotally attached to the base by two scissor-type linkages, and a lifting mechanism for selectively and automatically raising the platform with respect to the base upon the scissor-type linkages, as the weight of the beverages placed upon the platform gradually decreases. Use of the spring-loaded shelf prevents injury to the user while retrieving a beverage from the cooler, and also provides for increased accessibility and visibility of the contents of the cooler.

  • Patent number: 6769654
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a spreader mechanism for supporting the legs (11) of a tripod erect, comprising a hub (13) having a central axis, three arms (14) pivotally mounted on the hub at positions equi-spaced around the hub to swing with respect to the hub axis between extended and folded positions. A drive mechanism (19, 22) coordinates movement of the arms so that all three arms remain in the same relationship to the hub axis throughout the range of movement of the arms, and a locking device (26, 29, 30, 31, 32) locks the drive mechanism against movement at any position throughout the range of movement of the arms. The locking device may be released held by a push button operated mechanism (50, 51, 36, 34) to allow adjustment of the spreader member and the holding means is deactivated to allow engagement of the locking device to lock the arms in a selected position of adjustment.

Abstract: A collapsible support includes extendable and retractable arms and legs for generating a respective uncollapsed and collapsed state. In the uncollapsed state, the support can be placed on most types of surfaces in an upright position to support a golf club or other items by leaning the item against arms or hanging the item from the arm. In the collapsed state, the arms and legs are substantially parallel and adjacent the support's body and thus easily transported or stored. The support also includes an arm attachment assembly attached to the body and a leg attachment assembly attached to the body, both operable to extend and retract respective arms and legs. Also included is a biasing member to bias the arms and legs in a retracted position, an actuating member to extend the arms and legs, and a locking mechanism to lock the arms and legs in the extended position.

  • Patent number: 6494419
Abstract: A stand to support an object has a bottom frame and two side frames. The side frames are each pivotally attached to opposite ends of the bottom frame with a pair of pivot pins. The pairs of pivot pins are located at different heights. A clasp is mounted on each side frame to detachably engage the bottom frame. When the clasps are released from the bottom frame, the side frames can be pivoted relative to the bottom frame. The stand is foldable. Because the side frames are respectively pivotally attached to the bottom frame by pairs of pivot pins at different heights, one of the side frames can overlap the other side frame. The size of the stand is reduced. Transporting and storing the stand become more convenient.

Abstract: A golf bag tilting structure comprises a fixed tube fastened at the bottom end with a bag bottom disk, and a movable tube fastened at the top end with a bag top edge such that the bottom end of the movable tube is slidably fitted into the top end of the fixed tube. The fixed tube is linked with one or more tilting rods which are pivoted at the top end with the bag top edge. As the bag top edge is exerted on by an external force, the bottom end of the movable tube is forced to slide to compress a spring which is located in the top end of the fixed tube. The tilting rods swivel away from the bag body to support the golf bag slantingly on the ground.

  • Patent number: 6454228
Abstract: A tripod having support legs which automatically open and close when the tripod is placed on a support surface and removed from the support surface, respectively, and having a self-contained battery. The tripod includes a telescopic center post, a plurality of downwardly extending support legs, a plurality of coupling links pivotally attached at one end to a bottom end of the center post and pivotally attached at the other end to the support legs, and a battery positioned within a hollow center of the center post. The pivotal attachment of the coupling links to the support legs is offset towards an outer edge of the support legs to bias the support legs outwardly and facilitate the automatic opening of the support legs. The outward biasing of the coupling links and support legs allows the support legs to close to a vertical position parallel and adjacent to the center post while allowing the legs to automatically open when the tripod is placed on the support surface.
