  • Patent number: 7490429
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods of using an ergonomic fore grip/gun handle with a concealable and collapsible bipod. One version can have a tubular recess consisting of a first cylindrical cutout housing the bipod legs when concealed and a sliding piston that deploys the legs and a second cylindrical cutout housing a release mechanism and a void space for other accessories. The release mechanism has a compression spring positioned between the piston assembly and the bottom of the first cylindrical cutout and the compression spring. The legs are connected to the bottom of the piston assembly via a hinge and spring that when released from confinement within the fore grip, causes the legs to expand outward until fully deployed. Telescoping legs allow adjustment of leg length for use on uneven terrain. The grip portion has an outer surface with a flat surface on sides of the grip to provide a more stable grip, assist in orienting the mounted weapon and support pressure pads for lights.

  • Patent number: 6173928
Abstract: A pump stabilizer stabilizes the position of the needle of a cylinder-type hand-held sport ball pump relative to the sport ball assuring that the needle is not bent or broken-off during the inflation pumping action, while permitting the pump cylinder to be held in one hand and the pump piston handle to be held in the other in typical fashion. The outer cylinder of the pump is fitted with a sliding peripheral ring. The needle end of the pump includes a mounting ring having three mounting tabs or brackets equilaterally spaced about the ring. Three legs are pivotably mounted on the sliding ring and secured to the mounting ring by hinged extensions, permitting the sliding ring to move along the axis of the cylinder and the legs to telescope in and out relative to the cylinder. When the needle is inserted in the orifice of the ball, the legs are telescoped down along the cylinder until they are in firm engagement with the ball. A locking device secures the assembly in place during the pumping action.

  • Patent number: 6125867
Abstract: A self-supporting umbrella has a handle at a base end portion of a front shank and a ferrule at a front end portion of said shank. The ferrule includes a plurality of legs which are capable of being opened and closed. A projection which extends inward is formed inside a base end of each of the leg portions so as to pivotally mount the base end of each of the legs on a ferrule base portion. A resilient member is fitted into a front end portion of the shank such that a leg operating member having a restricted section in an axially intermediate portion thereof can be disposed on a front end of the resilient member. The restricted section is adapted to pinch therein the projection. The leg operating member is urged by a resilient force of the resilient member toward the front end of the umbrella.

  • Patent number: 6092770
Abstract: A stand for photographic/optical and cinematographic equipment comprises a central column and a tripod base for the column including three legs and respective arms for connecting the legs to the column. The base comprises a first and a second articulation element slidable on and fixed to the column, respectively, with the legs articulated to the first articulation element about articulation axes substantially perpendicular to radii of the column. The connecting arms have their opposite ends articulated, respectively, to an intermediate portion of the corresponding leg and to the second articulation element, and each leg is movable from an inoperative position in which it is brought, with the corresponding connecting arm, close to the column, to an operative position in which it is opened out away from the column.

  • Patent number: 5975499
Abstract: Quadrapod (12) having a central vertical support column (20) and a horizontal plate (22) fixed to the upper portion is disclosed. A slide ring (30) surrounds the column (20) and is movable substantially throughout the length thereof from the bottom of the column to the undersurface of the plate (22). Four pairs of legs (52, 54) extend outwardly from the ring (30) and the plate (22) and terminate in four different feet (56). Each pair of legs includes an upper leg (52) pivotally connected between the plate (22) and the foot (56) and a lower leg (54) pivotally connected between the movable ring (30) and the foot (56). In its operative position, the ring (30) is moved downwardly so that the legs extend outwardly and the quadrapod rests on the four feet. In its collapsed position, the ring (30) is moved upwardly so that the legs and feet are moved inwardly so as to be substantially parallel to the center column. Each of the feet includes a vertical adjusting means (58).

  • Patent number: 5964524
Abstract: The invention is a worklight and stand having a multi-legged support and a main pole consisting of three segments. The leg support increases the stand's overall resistance to tipping as well as increases the stand's load resistance. The worklight is adjustable, allowing for the aiming of light in multiple directions. The ability to break the main pole into three segments allows for the storage or packaging of the stand within a container of smaller dimension than necessary for a stand of only two segments.

  • Patent number: 5934628
Abstract: A tripod having support legs which automatically open and close when the tripod is placed on a support surface and removed from the support surface, respectively, and having a self-contained battery. The tripod includes a telescopic center post, a plurality of downwardly extending support legs, a plurality of coupling links pivotally attached at one end to a bottom end of the center post and pivotally attached at the other end to the support legs, and a battery positioned within a hollow center of the center post. The pivotal attachment of the coupling links to the support legs is offset towards an outer edge of the support legs to bias the support legs outwardly and facilitate the automatic opening of the support legs. The outward biasing of the coupling links and support legs allows the support legs to close to a vertical position parallel and adjacent to the center post while allowing the legs to automatically open when the tripod is placed on the support surface.
