  • Patent number: 5971339
Abstract: A hanging apparatus (10) for a dumbbell (12) of the type having a straight cylindrical bar (14), a sleeve (16) on the straight cylindrical bar (14) and weights (18) at opposite ends. The hanging apparatus (10) comprises a frame (20) having a hook (22) at a first end. A structure (24) is for attaching a second end of the frame (20) to the straight cylindrical bar (14) of a dumbbell (12). The hook (22) will suspend the dumbbell (12) from a support shaft (26), enabling a person (28) using the dumbbell (12) not to reach down to a floor to pick up the dumbbell (12) and lower the dumbbell (12) back to the floor upon completion of a workout. These movements would put undue strain on forearm (30) and elbow joint ligaments and can cause severe damage to the entire arm muscles, tendons and tissues of the person (28).

  • Patent number: 5899421
Abstract: A desk stand for a hand-held computer allows both variation in viewing angles of the computer display, and the ability to connect the computer to external, peripheral devices. The stand allows clearance for the computer to mate with a docking port which in turn connects to peripheral devices such as a modem or a printer. Thus, the capabilities of the computer are greatly expanded. In addition the computer can be positioned on the stand to allow easier access to its input tablet. Thus, both right-handed and left-handed persons can position the computer so that data entry is more convenient. Moreover, the computer can be positioned in a manner that reduces glare on the computer display unit.

  • Patent number: 4863125
Abstract: Flexible bag dispensers for plastic bags such as those used to carry merchandise purchased in grocery stores or hardware stores. The dispensers are generally "w"-shaped to form two cells in order to dispense two sets of bags. The frame is formed by a back portion which connects three or more side portions which support the bags. Flexion members such as spring-loaded hinges may be mounted to and connect members in the back portion, one or more side portions, or at intersections between one or more side portions and the back portion to allow the side portions to flex when a person or object impacts the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 4840336
Abstract: A two-wire structure for use in suspending plastic bags on a rack is formed by inwardly bending each of the end portions of a single straight length of wire such that each lies against the middle portion thereof with their terminal ends butt welded together and with an upwardly directed looped protuberance formed on each end of the two-wire structure. Each end portion of the two-wire structure so formed is then bent to provide cantilevered support arms extending at right angles from each end of the middle portion thereof which forms the back of the two-wire structure by which the cantilevered support arms are attached to a rack. Such a construction provides the upwardly directed looped protuberances for use as safety precautions on the ends of the cantilevered support arms and further assures that each of the cantilevered support arms is provided with a continuous surface throughout its length.

  • Patent number: 4819899
Abstract: A merchandising rack comprising a support wall affixed to a planar base. A pair of bag-support arms overlie the base in upwardly spaced relation thereto. A pair of side arms extend laterally from the support wall intermediate the bag-support arms and the base, and include retainers for engagement of bag handles thereover. A pair of trays extend to the opposite side of the support wall from the base and are interconnected by a vertical rear support which is engaged with and supported by the vertical support wall by upper and lower stand-off brackets. The vertical support mounts a display panel transversely across the upper end thereof. The opposed ends of the trays are interconnected by side legs which terminate in lower support feet.

  • Patent number: 4794578
Abstract: A novelty watch construction which may be selectively used as a wrist watch, a bracelet, a jewelry ornament, or placed upon a horizontal surface to be used as a desk clock or the like. The novel construction employs a casing element adapted to either house the watch movement directly, or engage an existing watch case. The housing is provided with a threaded or contoured socket. In lieu of a watch strap, there is provided an elongated member having a flexible metal core capable of retaining an imparted shape, the casing being enclosed in a flexible cover of synthetic or natural rubber-like material. One end of the flexible member is provided with means engaging the socket in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4762979
Abstract: A portable holder for a hand held type electric soldering iron which iron includes an insulated handle, a heater section and a bit. The holder includes a first support and a bit support supported in spaced relation on a base. The first support and the bit support are adapted to support an iron in a first position wherein the iron is in a stand-by or storage position with the bit in the bit support. The bit support has a shield of material to inhibit air flow about a bit contained therein. The bit support is constructed such as to prevent direct accidental contact with it. A second support spaced from the first support is with the first support adapted to hold an iron in a second position wherein the iron is held in an operable soldering position. The base is provided with a plurality of peripherally located posts about which the electric cord of the iron may be wrapped for storage.

  • Patent number: 4750694
Abstract: Dispensers for storing flexible bags and holding such bags open at an appropriate height while they are being filled with items. The dispensers include a bag container or holder means such as a spool or hook which may be adjustably mounted vertically and laterally to the dispenser frame. A suspending means corresponding to the bag container means holds the handle of the bag not held by the container means and may accommodate an extender to allow the bag handle to be held adjustably in height. Such a dispenser may also be formed to be adjustable in width to accommodate larger bags and spread them appropriately for optimal wall separation. Novel C-shaped brackets may be used to receive wire rungs on the dispenser frame to allow the dispenser to be manually removed and remounted with a single swift motion at various heights to a counter, wall or other surface.
