Swinging Or Folding Patents (Class 248/240)
  • Patent number: 4673060
Abstract: A foldable scaffold which can be erected to the side of a scaffold anchor having a horizontal member pivotally mounted at one end to the scaffold anchor and a support member pivotally mounted at one end to the horizontal member and the other end releasably mounted on the support anchor. A pin is provided for selectively holding the horizontal member in a first horizontal position and for releasing the horizontal member from that first horizontal position to allow the horizontal member and the support member to pivot to a second position in which the horizontal and support members are closely approximated with the scaffold anchor. If, for instance, the scaffold anchor is a gangform, the disassembly, storage, transport and re-assembly of the gangform is greatly facilitated by the fact that the scaffold is folded and re-erected by merely inserting two pins into the horizontal member and support member.

  • Patent number: 4437414
Abstract: A folding work surface having self-locking, pivotal support arms for selective support and storage upon a vertical wall. A triangular pivot configuration comprising each support arm permits the work surface to be secured upon a wall with a minimum of effort and a maximum of structural reliablilty. A pair of stationary wall brackets pivotally connect the work surface and support arms one to the other and to the wall. Each pivot arm includes an elongated primary support strut pivotally connected to the wall bracket, and a shorter locking arm pivotally coupled to the support strut. The locking arm pivots inwardly to laterally engage the work surface, resting thereagainst in the open, supported position. In the collapsed position, the triangular pivot configuration permits the support arms to fold against the work surface to facilitate storage.

  • Patent number: 4390302
Abstract: A framework for supporting a horizontal arm at one of a plurality of locations from a vertically extending member having a plurality of vertically separated openings, each of which can be aligned with a similar opening in one end of the arm. A pair of triangular section cotter pins extend through the aligned openings with the hypotenuses in contact and the other two dimensions being less than the corresponding opening dimension so that after pin insertion, downward movement of the arm, misaligning the opening, locks the arm to the member.

  • Patent number: 4068601
Abstract: A wall mounted folding table movable from a collapsed and recessed position includes a folding bracket arrangement having first and second arms pivotally interconnected and pivotally connected to the table top and to the wall structure. The foldable bracket includes a reciprocating latch which releasably connects the folding bracket members in a linear support position and also maintains the folding leg in a collapsed and recessed position.

  • Patent number: 4046294
Abstract: An electrical instrument holder is provided with a support plate that is adapted to fasten to the body of a person and which has an arm means extending therefrom that is suitably supported substantially normal to the support plate which arm has affixed thereto an electrical meter clamping means. This device permits an electrical meter to be supported away from the body of a person in a position whereby the face thereof will be visible to the user.

  • Patent number: 4029355
Abstract: The structure disclosed embraces a pair of vertical angle iron brackets welded to the rear ends of side walls of a truck service body in the plane of the rear end opening of the latter. A rectangular sheet metal tail gate having tapering end flanges welded thereto, the latter being provided with upper and lower pairs of laterally extending bolts, the lower pair of which extend laterally into vertical slots in the lower portions of said brackets and the upper pair of which extend laterally into notches formed in the upper ends of said brackets. The tail gate is normally held in vertical position closing the rear end of the truck body and is adapted to be readily shifted to horizontally rearwardly extending position by lifting said tail gate to remove the upper bolts from said notches and then swinging it downwardly until the wider lower ends of said end flanges abut against lower end portions of said brackets, this rigidly supporting the tail gate horizontally.

  • Patent number: 3980121
Abstract: A bracket mountable on a supporting surface for retaining a pair of awning support members in a retracted juxtapositional storage position has a pair of side plate members retained in spaced parallel vertically oriented relationship by a cross-web member defining uniform channels on opposite sides thereof. The side plate members pivotally support the lower end of one of the support members and defines a space rearwardly of the one support member into which the lower end of the other support member can be inserted to retain the support members in juxtapositional relationship adjacent to the supporting surface.
