The lock will hold the foot member in a lowered position where it will support the weight of the free end of the gate. A trigger can be activated to release the lock and enable the foot member to move to a raised position.

    Abstract: The stand for a portable power drill has a base supporting an upright column on which a clamp is mounted for slideable movement to a desired height where it is fixed. A carriage is slideably mounted on the column with a bushing on each side of the clamp. A spring biases the carriage upwardly. A power drill is clamped on the carriage and the carriage can be moved downwardly relative to the clamp against the bias of the spring to feed the drill bit into the work. A lock plate having an aperture slightly larger than the diameter of the column fits over the column and is spring biased to tilt on a fulcrum on the underside of the clamp. When tilted, the aperture edges engage ("and bite") the column to support the carriage and drill. The plate has a pad which is depressed against the spring bias to release the plate so the clamp and carriage can be raised or lowered.

    Abstract: A head-rest device is disclosed which comprises a head-rest stay, a head-rest holder mounted to a seat back and a lock mechanism provided within the head-rest holder. The head-rest stay is inserted into its associated head-rest holder. The head-rest stay is formed with two or more pairs of slotted recesses on its circumferential surface. Such pair of slotted recesses are located at required intervals in a vertical direction from each other and correspond to each other in a staggered manner. An engagement body, which has a required thickness and is formed with a stay insertion bore having a diameter substantially equal to that of the head-rest stay, is inclinably inserted via a spring into the head-rest holder. A retaining member is also provided which is capable of retaining the engagement body in its inclined position in which the upper and lower edge portions of the stay insertion bore are engaged with a pair of slotted recesses respectively.

Locking means releasably secure each of the support-engaging members to the housing. A resilient means, such as a spring, is disposed between a pair of levers for urging the detent means carried thereby into frictional engagement with the support-engaging member.
