Patent number: 4188049Abstract: The stabilizer includes telescoping members, one comprising a bracket attachable to a vehicle body and the other comprising an extendable ground engaging post. Two oppositely operating one-way ball clutches are selectively controlled to lock the post in stabilizing position or in retracted position, and a third one-way ball clutch which cooperates with the post and one of the first two ball clutches is operated by a hand actuated rocking lever to raise the vehicle body for levelling or like purposes.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1978Date of Patent: February 12, 1980Inventor: Robert M. Kimbro

Patent number: 4169687Abstract: A lock for an extendable leg assembly including a sleeve coaxially receiving an end of an outer leg member and an inner leg member as it telescopes into the outer leg. The sleeve is hand-turnable between first and second rotational positions. In the first rotational position, the central axis of a ring turnable with and within the sleeve is coaxial with the leg members and a side face of the ring is flush with an inclined end face of the outer leg. In that position, the inner leg member is free to move into or out of the outer leg. In the second rotational position, the ring is turned such that its central axis forms an acute angle with the axis of the legs, the side face is inclined to the end face and the ring is canted by a spring to clamp against the inner leg and prevent further axial movement thereof into the outer leg, while at the same time permitting extension of the inner leg out of the outer leg member.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1978Date of Patent: October 2, 1979Inventor: George R. Schull

Patent number: 4163536Abstract: An apparatus for assisting carrying out exact hand movements, especially those performed by a surgeon during complex micro-surgical operations, comprising at least one support accommodated to the human arm or the hand. There is provided only a single upright column, one end of which is supported in a hinge joint equipped with a first brake device in order to obtain a free, braked mobility throughout a predetermined spatial region or zone with regard to the position and orientation thereof and at the other end such upright column carries the arm support. This arm support is mounted to be freely rotatable about the lengthwise axis of the upright column and is equipped with means located in the upright column for the continuous or infinite elevational adjustment of the upright column and thereby the arm support. There is also provided a second brake device for fixing the desired elevational position of the adjusted upright column and its arm support.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1977Date of Patent: August 7, 1979Assignee: Contraves AGInventors: Rudolf Heller, Kurt Schattmaier

Patent number: 4128274Abstract: A clamping device for medical apparatus includes a clamping member which act under the influence of spring bias force to permit upward displacement of the apparatus with minimal force and downward displacement of the apparatus when a predetermined applied force is exceeded. One handed adjustment of the apparatus position is thus enabled.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1977Date of Patent: December 5, 1978Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventor: Walter Schmedemann

Patent number: 3990745Abstract: Rear left and right vertically disposed wheelchair frame tubes are arranged to telescopically receive left and right back rest tubes supporting the main back rest portion of the wheelchair. The lower ends of the back rest tubes include downwardly directed rods spaced to the sides of the tubes and designed to be received in appropriate binding structures secured to the wheelchair frame to automatically lock the back rest tubes to the frame to position the back rest itself properly for a patient. The binding elements may easily be manually released to permit telescopic removal of the back rest tubes from the wheelchair frame itself.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1975Date of Patent: November 9, 1976Assignee: Everest & Jennings, Inc.Inventor: Keith Samuel Rodaway

Patent number: 3989211Abstract: A vertically adjustable pedestal drawing table with a weight balance provided by a gas spring coupled between the pedestal column and the pedestal foot. Adjustable rollers maintain the true vertical orientation of the column. A pedal operated locking brake fixes the vertical position of the column and a safety locking brake arrests sudden undesired dropping of the column and table.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1975Date of Patent: November 2, 1976Assignee: Franz Kuhlmann KGInventor: Arnold Gundlach

Patent number: 3986480Abstract: A locking device for releasably securing a birdhouse upon its mounting pole. A locking plate secured to the bottom of the birdhouse has an opening through which the mounting pole is passed. The plate opening is larger in diameter than the outside diameter of the post. The plate is biased into a locking position at an angle relative to the axis of the post. A pivotal bracket is operable on the plate to bias the plate to a horizontal release position normal to the axis of the post. A lanyard secured to the bottom of the birdhouse is passed up the pole around a pulley wheel at the top thereof and returned down the pole through the bracket. A free end of the lanyard extends below the bracket. Pivoting of the bracket and resultant release of the locking plate is accomplished by pulling on the free end of the lanyard at an angle relative to the post to move the locking plate to its release position.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1975Date of Patent: October 19, 1976Assignee: Trio Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Arthur E.
