Roller Or Ball Patents (Class 248/430)
  • Patent number: 5520362
Abstract: The present invention provides, in a preferred embodiment, a vehicle seat adjuster particularly suitable for the middle or forward seating of a three-row van or minivan type vehicle. The seat adjuster may be provided with a master-slave latch arrangement allowing adjustment by the vehicle seat occupant by manipulating a rod extending toward the front of the vehicle seat adjuster or by a vehicle occupant seated rearwardly manipulating a second rod extending toward the rearward end of the vehicle seat adjuster. Although particularly useful in van-type vehicles, this seat adjuster may also be used in conventional passenger vehicles. The seat adjuster has two latches which are moved to a nonengaged or release position by manipulation of a slidably mounted roller which is displaced by a rod to tension a cable connected to both of the latches.

  • Patent number: 5507552
Abstract: A track assembly for a vehicle includes an upper track slidably mounted in a lower track. A seat belt buckle mounting bracket is attached to the upper track and connects a fixed seat belt to the upper track. The seat belt buckle mounting bracket includes first and second angularly disposed legs, with the first leg attached to the upper track and the second leg attached to a fixed seat belt buckle. The attachment structure mounts the seat belt buckle mounting bracket in a first, normal operating position in which the second leg of the bracket extends upward from a side wall of the upper track. The attachment structure permits the seat belt buckle mounting bracket to rotate from the first position under a force applied through the fixed seat belt to a second position in which the second leg of the bracket is substantially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the upper track to place the first and second legs of the bracket in tension with the applied force.

  • Patent number: 5150872
Abstract: A power seat slide device includes a pair of parallel stationary rails and a pair of parallel movable rails axially slidably engaged with the stationary rails. The movable rail and the stationary rail are assembled to define therebetween an elongate tunnel which extends along a common axis of the stationary and movable rails. A threaded shaft is housed in the elongate tunnel and has both ends rotatably supported by the movable rail. A nut is received in the elongate tunnel and fixed to the stationary rail. The threaded shaft is operatively engaged with the nut so that rotation of the threaded shaft about its axis induces a longitudinal movement of the movable rail relative to the stationary rail. An electric motor is mounted on the movable rail and has a drive shaft. A gear mechanism is arranged between the drive shaft and the threaded shaft for transmitting a power of the drive shaft to the threaded shaft. A gear housing houses therein the gear mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5118062
Abstract: A seat attachment assembly for use to attach a seat onto a vertical wall, preferably but not exclusively the wall of a locomotive driver's cab. The assembly comprises an elongated rail member that can be rigidly fixed in horizontal position onto the vertical wall. The assembly also comprises a seat carrier slidably mounted onto the rail member. The seat carrier comprises a seat-supporting member on which the seat is pivotably mounted about a vertical axis, and a set of supporting arms for mounting the seat-supporting member onto the rail member for horizontal displacement therealong. Rollers are mounted at the free ends of the arms. These rollers bear into the rail member and the vertical wall to vertically support the seat carrier and simultaneously hold the seat-supporting member in a cantilever manner at a given distance away from the vertical wall. Thanks to these rollers, horizontal adjustment of the seat along the vertical wall can easily be achieved without any physical effort.
