  • Patent number: 4829732
Abstract: An improved anchor socket and jig assembly for holding implements in concrete is provided which facilitates assembly of the socket element on the base member of the jig assembly and which affords substantially expanded adaptability of the jig for varied size implements and avoids the need for bolts or other extraneous means to secure the socket member to the rail member. The improved jig assembly comprises a longitudinal base member preferably of substantially rigid plastic composition which is provided with locator openings which fit one of the feet of the socket member and, cooperating therewith, a mating turn slot. Both the openings and the turn slots are formed to accommodate the feet of the socket member. The assembly of the socket in the base member in a secure position is readily effected by positioning the socket member between the rails of the base member and locking the two by a manual quarter turn rotation of the socket member in the base member.

  • Patent number: 4553358
Abstract: A ground anchor for channel posts has an angle iron leg driven into the ground with a creased upright fin shroud strip or strap embracing the apex or corner of the angle iron at the trailing end of the leg and secured to the ends of the sides of the angle iron providing a V-shaped socket or barrel. The channel post straddles the angle iron with its side legs bottomed on the sides of the angle iron and a compression member bottomed on the strip forces the channel post against the angle iron to spread the legs of the post into tight gripping relation with the angle iron locking the post in the socket. The socket is open-ended and the post can slide over the angle iron leg to any desired depth so that a sign mounted on top of the post can be positioned at a selected height above the ground. The angle iron is driven into the ground to a depth sufficient to bury the shroud strip so that the post is the only portion of the assembly projecting above the ground.

  • Patent number: 4515195
Abstract: A log or piece of cord wood is supported upright on a base member between two support members which are secured to the base member so that at least one support member is movable toward and away from the other. The base member is sufficiently large to permit a user to stand thereon to positionally stabilize the base member while a log is being split. The support members are prevented from moving inadvertently during splitting by various alternative means such as of frictionally engaging one or both support members in tracks, spring biasing the support members toward one another, positionally locking a movable support member or by detenting the support members in various positions. The support members have concave surfaces extending at least 90.degree. around and sufficiently high so as to preclude movement of the log during splitting.

  • Patent number: 4509289
Abstract: Apparatus for stabilizing plant support stakes in a pot includes means spaced vertically and partially defining first and second loops for receiving and holding the plant. Means spaced vertically partially define third and fourth loops for receiving and holding the stake. A spacer member is between the first and second loops and the third and fourth loops. Means brace the loops in fixed relationship to the spacer member. In one embodiment, the bracing means includes a first brace disposed between the first and second loops and a second brace disposed between the third and fourth loops. The third and fourth loops may be respectively disposed within the first and second loops in the planar relationship and may be pivotable from this planar relationship to form the loops. The spacer member and the loops may be open to facilitate the circulation of air and water through the pot and to permit the roots of the plant to spread.

  • Patent number: 4079559
Abstract: A hinged base attachable to a foundation and providing hinge means whereby a lighting pole can be tilted, and readily installed, removed and replaced. The base includes a pair of hinge plates, one of which carries a hinge pin and the other of which carries a hinge clevis. The hinge clevis has a channel with a first and a second channel width. The hinge pin has a first and a second pin width. The second widths are larger than the first widths and the first and second pin widths are no larger than the respective first and second channel widths. The pole is attachable to one of the hinge plates. When the other hinge plate is attached to the foundation, the pole can be tilted, and attached or detached thereto by passing the pin through the clevis channel with the first widths aligned. The pole is then tilted upright, and the first widths are no longer aligned. The clevis and pin are thus engaged, and the pole is firmly held to the foundation.
