  • Patent number: 11794617
Abstract: A vehicle seat having a lower part and an upper part displaceable relative to the lower part in a longitudinal direction, and a spring element for cushioning longitudinal horizontal movements of the upper part relative to the lower part. A scissors frame connects the lower part and the upper part so that they can move relative to one another. The spring element comprises a first holding arm connected to the upper part, and a second holding arm connected to the scissors frame. The first holding arm and the second holding arm are connected to one another by a first connecting element such that the first holding arm is displaced towards the second holding arm during a displacement of the upper part relative to the lower part. A resiliently deformable spring element part is deformed during a displacement of the first holding arm relative to the second holding arm.

When the marking module is to be changed and a new replacement module installed, the lifting mechanism is used to support the marking module during each of these procedures. Since the marking modules are relatively heavy (30-35 lbs.), to prevent accidental damage to the module, the cart and its attached lifting mechanism are conveniently used by the customer. The lifting mechanism is made up of an upper cradle, a bottom plate attached to the cart and a movable linkage. The module securely rests in the cradle in both removal and installing operations. It is not uncommon for a customer to want to change a color or colors in one or more modules. This cart and its attached lifting mechanism makes it relatively easy to accomplish this change.

Abstract: A pneumatic motor vehicle seat, whose static height is held constant independently of the weight of the respective seat occupant. The inventive device provides a magnetically actuated air valve (16) which is enclosed 20 in a plastic valve housing for aerating and deaerating the pneumatic valve. The air valve is controlled by an external permanent magnet and according operates, quietly, cleanly and with little wear. Also a motor vehicle seat includes an integrated height adjustment mechanism, comprising a control system which automatically and simultaneously dampens the vehicle seat vibrations to a maximum, whilst the static height is being adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6616117
Abstract: A height adjustable seat suspension having first and second bases connected by a linkage assembly with an air spring and shock disposed between the bases. The shock dampens vertical movement of the bases and the air spring increases in air volume to raise the seat height of the suspension and decreases in air volume to lower the seat height of the suspension. A threaded rod is also included as part of the shock which is threadably engaged with a collar that is rotated by a drive source. The engagement between the threaded portions of the rod and collar axially repositions the rod with respect to said collar to change the effective length of, the shock.

  • Patent number: 6550740
Abstract: A shock absorbing platform includes a bottom plate and a top plate joined to one another at their respective rearward and side peripheral edges by elongate rigid links that enable the plates to remain in parallel relation to one another as the top plate moves in relation to the bottom plate. In a first embodiment, an opening formed in the bottom plate accommodates the upper end of a platform-supporting pedestal so that the platform may be retrofit onto a pre-existing pedestal. The forward edge of the platform is open so that height-adjusting and seat-rotating pins are readily accessible. A cylinder is pivotally mounted on each outboard side of the platform and its plunger bears against a roller of a truncate link assembly that interconnects the top and bottom plates at their respective forward edges. Downward forces applied to the top plate are resisted by the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 5957426
Abstract: A mechanical seat suspension between upper and lower supports comprises a scissors arms linkage and a support pivot assembly allowing height adjustment to multiple positions. The pivot assembly carries most of the seat load and comprises a pair of lever arms, a pair of bell cranks, a height adjustment latch including multiple height adjustment detents, a pair of latch supports and a pair of tension springs to provide height-adjustable suspension. The seat suspension also preferably includes a damper such as a shock absorber. The latch includes a plurality of detents which alternatively work to adjust the height of the seat. A moveable pin is disposed within the latch support to engage a detent of the latch to establish the adjustable height of the seat. The moveable pin is moved into a disengagement position by lifting the seat to its maximum raised position whereby an abutment surface on the latch forces the moveable pin rearward.

  • Patent number: 5833198
Abstract: A lift table includes a support table assembly mounted on a scissor arm mechanism. The support table assembly is raised and lowered automatically upon the imposition or removal of loads so that the height of the plane on which articles are being handled remains generally constant. Raising and lowering is effected via a lift spring assembly that acts without the assistance of any pneumatic or hydraulic actuators. The scissor arm mechanism of the lift table has angled arms and low-friction rollers to facilitate raising and lowering of the support table assembly and optimizing operation of the lift spring assembly. The resulting mechanically operated lift table is simple, reliable, and can be easily transported from location to location.

  • Patent number: 5794911
Abstract: A suspension for a vehicle seat having a scissors arm linkage with a load carrying flexible member secured to a spring and in operable contact with a cam-shaped pulley carried by the linkage for producing a suspension of compact structure, which enables seat height to be adjusted independently of weight adjustment, and which produces a suspension having desirable load-deflection characteristics. The suspension has a platform for carrying the seat which overlies the linkage and a base underlying the linkage that supports the suspension and permits mounting to the floor of a vehicle. Weight adjustment of the suspension is accomplished by selectively tensioning the springs without changing the distance between the platform and base. Height adjustment of the seat is accomplished by moving the spring and flexible member in unison to controllably collapse or expand the linkage thereby selectively changing the distance between the platform and base.

  • Patent number: 5722331
Abstract: A counterbalanced adjustable height load bearing support structure with a pretensioning mechanism comprises a pair of pivotable arms each having a free end in engagement with a support assembly and being biased by a torsion spring. A lever arm is connected to each torsion spring and exerts a biasing force on the pivotable arm when the lever is rotated, thereby preloading the springs. A cable connects the lever arms and passes over a central bushing. The bushing receives a threaded shaft which may be turned to move the bushing and thereby adjust the tension in the cable. Because the cable is capable of sliding engagement with the bushing, tension in the cable is substantially uniform throughout its length and thus the resultant forces on the lever arms is approximately equal. Correspondingly, the forces on the two pivotable arms and associated support assemblies is approximately equal, whereby binding or racking of the support assemblies is minimized as the support surface is raised or lowered.

Abstract: Disclosed is a shock absorbing suspension system supporting a seat on a floor of a vehicle. The suspension system includes a hydraulic bag filled with a liquid and coupled to support the seat on the floor, the hydraulic bag having a valve orifice. The suspension system also includes a reservoir partially filled with liquid, having a lower orifice, an upper orifice, and a baffle positioned adjacent the lower orifice to impede the liquid from escaping through the upper orifice. An adjustable valve has an internal passageway communicating with the hydraulic bag via its valve orifice and the reservoir via its lower orifice to allow the liquid from the hydraulic bag to pass into the reservoir. The passageway can be made sufficiently small to dampen motion of the seat toward and away from the floor. The reservoir includes a supply of gas in direct communication with the liquid, the gas being compressed when the liquid enters the reservoir through the valve, thereby providing a spring.
