Abstract: An isolator. The novel isolator includes a first mounting structure, a second mounting structure, and a structure for providing a coupling path between the first and second mounting structures, this path having a series of zigzag patterns adapted to attenuate shock and/or vibration energy. The first mounting structure is attached to the shock source, and the second mounting structure is attached to the device to be isolated. In an illustrative embodiment, the isolator provides a path having a series of ninety-degree bends and a length greater than a direct distance between the first and second mounting structures. The path length and number of bends is tuned to provide a desired attenuation level. The dimensions of the isolator may also be tuned to provide a desired resonant frequency. In a preferred embodiment, the isolator is made from metal or some other material having stable properties over time.

Abstract: A device for vibration-damping mounting of a vehicle brake system fluid assembly in a receiving opening includes a stay bolt, an elastic damping element in the form of a sleeve through which the stay bolt passes, a clamping sleeve guided by the stay bolt, and a screw element having an internal thread. The stay bolt comprises a connecting pin and a threaded shank having an external thread onto which the screw element can be screwed in order to move the clamping sleeve axially on the stay bolt towards the elastic damping element. The clamping sleeve and the screw element are in the form of a one-piece clamping element having a bearing shoulder, wherein the axial force generated by the clamping element as a result of the screwing-on movement acts via the bearing shoulder on the elastic damping element. A fluid assembly includes at least one such device for vibration-damping mounting.

Abstract: Center-bonded mounts for resiliently connecting a supported structure to a support structure are assembled from members that are adapted to disproportionately affect the axial and radial stiffness of the mount. Each of the members includes a shoulder portion for engaging an opposite side surface of the support structure and a neck portion that extends within a socket formed through the support structure. The shoulder portion of one member disproportionately affects the downward axial stiffness of the mount, and the neck portion of the other member disproportionately affects the radial stiffness of the mount. A mount stiffness characteristic of the individual members can be varied, and the varied members can be interchangeably combined to provide both a greater selection and a greater range of axial and radial stiffness characteristics for a given part count.

Abstract: An isolator assembly includes an elastomeric assembly which is disposed within a socket defined by a supporting structure. The socket defines a transition portion, a retention rib and a stopping rib. The elastomeric assembly is positioned in the socket by sliding the elastomeric assembly through the transition portion so that the elastomeric assembly is compressed as it moves into the retention rib. The stopping rib engages an end surface of the elastomeric assembly once it has been properly positioned in the socket.
