Abstract: A multi-link bone fixation assembly and method having interconnected longitudinal linking members, end caps and locknuts, and possibly transverse linking members, all disposed on implanted bone fasteners, the assembly providing a rigid, fixed ladder or frame to preclude relative movement between vertebrae or bone. At least two of the end caps and both ends of at least one of the transverse linking members are slotted such that, in the event a previously implanted assembly needs to be lengthened, additional bone fasteners are implanted, and the end caps and/or transverse linking members are removed from the assembly in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the bone fastener by loosening rather than removing the locknuts from the bone fasteners. The new longitudinal linking members are then inserted onto the bone fasteners in a direction perpendicular to the axis and the locknuts are tightened to secure the now-extended assembly.

Abstract: A portable lifting device is provided that includes a pair of telescoping parallel beam assemblies attached on either end to a pair of stanchion assemblies. A sliding guide assembly is slidably mounted on the parallel beam assemblies and includes a cross-member between the parallel beams that acts as the connection point for a lifting medium. This allows for a higher support point for the lifting medium than would be provided by a conventional single-beam device.

Abstract: A connection structure of a vehicular engine mounting and a front plate of a front wheel cowling is disclosed. Abstract: An adjustable caster is provided for a cook stove. The caster includes a chassis that is mounted to a bottom of the stove. A curved frame is rotatably mounted to the chassis and has opposite ends to which a roller, which is engageable with ground, and an operation sleeve are respectively and rotatably mounted. An adjustment nut seat is pivoted to the chassis and forms a bore to which a nut is mounted in an aligned manner. Abstract: A lift drive unit support apparatus consists of multiple height-adjustable mounts, which conduct the forces of the drive unit to a foundation, fasten the drive unit in an earthquake-proof manner, and isolate it in terms of solid-borne sound from the foundation. The drive unit can be levelled in height by means of a tool, such as a shaft spanner, by way of an adjusting sleeve screwed into the engine frame. A foot plate inserted below the adjusting sleeve transmits vertical forces from the adjusting sleeve to a damping element. Horizontal forces are transmitted from the adjusting sleeve by way of a tube to a base plate and from there to an anchor bolt, which also prevents upward lift-off of the drive unit.

Abstract: A method of employing an electric motor that is used to roll and unroll tarpaulin covers that is mounted to the front portion of a belly dump trailer in a fashion that allows it to move both fore and aft as the tarpaulin is rolled over the trailer box is provided. This design allows the electric motor assembly to move freely fore and aft within the confines of the horizontal slide rails. The motor assembly is then connected through a universal joint to the solid drive shaft which is connected through an additional universal joint to the tarpaulin roll tube.
Abstract: A sample stage of a precision sample positioning system includes a sample plate supported above a base plate on a plurality of slider assemblies. Each slider assembly includes a base slider secured to a surface of the base plate and a stage slider secured to the sample plate. Each slider is made from a common material. The common material possesses the characteristic of not having a yield point, and having a sufficiently high strength so as to permit sliding without surface degradation.
Abstract: A new support frame for supporting a cleaning device. The inventive device includes a base having a pair of spaced apart elongate side bars and spaced apart elongate first and second end bars. The end bars of the base are extended between the side bars of the base. The base has ground engaging members downwardly depending therefrom. The frame also includes first and second end members with each end member having a pair of elongate lower arm portions and an elongate upper cross portion. An upper mounting assembly is spaced apart from the base and is interposed between the base and the upper cross portions of the end members. Elongate first and second upper bars are extended between the arm portions of the first end member and are interposed between the upper cross portion of the first end member and the first end portion of the upper mounting assembly. A handle member is extended from the first end member away from the second end member.

Abstract: A support structure for a motorcycle's rearview mirror includes a vibration dampening device. The support structure includes a mirror base attached to a fairing stay of the motorcycle. The vibration dampening device includes an isolated weight supported between two elastic members. The elastic members are attached to the fairing stay close to the attachment location of the mirror base to the fairing stay. Since the isolated weight is attached to the fairing stay, it can be large enough to sufficiently dampen vibrations which propagate along the fairing stay, without adversely affecting the outward appearance of the motorcycle.
Abstract: A load counterbalancing system with a constant load displacement force includes a load element, a position transducer and an actuator element. An environmental force acting upon the load element is counterbalanced by a support force provided by the actuator element. The environmental force is assumed to be a predetermined function of the position of the load element, and the actuator element applies the support force to the load element as defined by the predetermined function. The invention allows an operator to move the load element through its entire range of motion with a constant applied force, and to place the load element statically at any position in the range of motion.
