  • Patent number: 10024050
Abstract: A novel system and related methods for sequentially deploying, in automated or semi-automated fashion, a strip of a plurality of truss bays with integral solar panels from a moving carrier onto a surface being traversed, resulting in a long, contiguous truss structure laid upon on the surface. The solar panels are angled at a predetermined orientation for solar operation at the deployment location. The carrier is easily and quickly reloaded with another set of truss bays for repeated deployment of a series of strips of solar truss structures in a solar array. The solar array thus is constructed in substantially less time and with substantially less labor that conventional support racking in the filed using prior art piece-wise assembly operations.

  • Patent number: 8160475
Abstract: This involves a cart that can be used in changing a marking module in a xerographic color marking system. The cart has a lifting mechanism securely attached to its upper surface. When the marking module is to be changed and a new replacement module installed, the lifting mechanism is used to support the marking module during each of these procedures. Since the marking modules are relatively heavy (30-35 lbs.), to prevent accidental damage to the module, the cart and its attached lifting mechanism are conveniently used by the customer. The lifting mechanism is made up of an upper cradle, a bottom plate attached to the cart and a movable linkage. The module securely rests in the cradle in both removal and installing operations. It is not uncommon for a customer to want to change a color or colors in one or more modules. This cart and its attached lifting mechanism makes it relatively easy to accomplish this change.

The lifting mechanism forms the bottom portion of the marking module and comprises an upper cradle to hold the remaining module portion, a lower plate that constitutes the bottom of the module when in a collapsed position, and a movable linkage that connects the cradle to the lower plate. When in installation mode, the linkage creates a vertical force which will upwardly push the cradle (holding the module) away from the lower plate into an installation elevation. After slides in the module and in the color marking system are mated, the lifting mechanism is collapsed and the module pushed into the color marking system or apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6568876
Abstract: A drilling device has a carriage (1) on which a drilling member (22) can be removably mounted. In a receiving region, the carriage (1) has a tightening lever (4) that can be swiveled, with its first end area having a tightening surface (5) that interacts with a clamping surface (21) of a connection region of the drilling member (22). The second end area of the tightening lever (4) interacts with a tightening element (9) that keeps the tightening lever (4) under tension of a spring so that the drilling member (22) is firmly pressed against the carriage (1). Using the two release levers (15), the tightening element (9) can be moved into a release position in which the tightening lever (4) can be swiveled into the release position and the tightening element (9) lies against a retention surface (13) on the tightening lever (4). When a drilling member (22) is secured on the carriage (1), the tightening lever (4) is automatically swiveled into a tightened position and locked the tightening element (9).

Abstract: An adjustable stand is disclosed for raising and lowering a cantilevered load while reducing friction and preventing binding in the raising and lowering mechanism. A carriage for a cantilever arm, carrying the cantilevered load, rolls along a pair of parallel linear shafts by means of ball bearing bushings thus providing linear non-binding rolling motion therealong. In addition, an air clamp is provided for lockably positioning the cantilevered load in a desired rotational orientation with respect to the cantilever arm.

  • Patent number: 5562091
Abstract: A hospital bed supported on a wheeled base, and a ventilator supported on a wheeled cart and docked to the base of the bed, the combination of ventilator and bed capable of being rolled as a single unit. The ventilator cart includes a wheeled base, and supports connected to the base for supporting a ventilator, with the supports providing for selective raising and lowering of the ventilator. The hospital bed base is wheeled and has a generally Y-shaped base frame. The outspread arms of the Y-shaped base frame receives the ventilator cart so that the two may be docked together. The ventilator when docked to the hospital bed base falls within the footprint of the bed as projected downwardly onto the floor. A latch secures the ventilator to the bed base. A disabling switch disables the high/low function of the bed preventing the bed from being lowered downwardly onto the ventilator. A power supply mounted to the bed base provides for uninterrupted operation of the ventilator.
