Patent number: 7195452Abstract: The mounting of low expansion full ring shrouds in a turbine engine requires radial compliance to limit the stresses experienced by the shroud due to thermal growth differences between the shroud and its support. A method provides radial compliance with no looseness in a mounting system. The mounting system also allows for axial motion of the shroud, should such motion be needed or desired. The lack of looseness in the mounting system results in an ability to achieve smaller tip clearances and thus better engine performance.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2004Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Honeywell International, Inc.Inventors: Adrian R. Patent number: 5054741Abstract: A tube hanger for selectively supporting at least two different sizes of tubes from a mounting surface comprises a unitary body of flexible, resilient material having a body portion sized to extend transversely across a tube to be supported by the hanger. The body portion has a base end generally for abutment with a support surface and an arm with a tip end extending outwardly from the base end in a semi-circular arc segment. The arm defines a partially enclosed cavity sized for receipt of a first size of tube, such as 7/8 inch o.d. tubing. A supplemental finger extending outwardly from the arm and into the cavity substantially concentrically with the arm cradles and grips a second size of tube of lesser diameter than the first size of tube. The tube hanger snap-fits and snugly maintains its position about both sizes of tubing for one handed installation, freeing the installer from having to hold the hanger about the tubing while fastening the hanger to a support, such as an overhead joist.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Sioux Chief Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: Joseph P. Patent number: 5054740Abstract: An improved air compressor tank mount. Grooves are formed along opposite sides of the bottom of the air compressor housing. Two brackets are welded to the top of the air tank. Each bracket has two upwardly and inwardly facing hooked ends which are spaced to engage the air compressor housing grooves. The air compressor slides onto the hooked bracket ends until one or more bracket end abuts a flange and the compressor may be retained on the brackets by a single screw.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: DeVilbiss Air Power CompanyInventor: Roger D. Patent number: 4979719Abstract: A motor base clamp for clamping motors or the like to a supporting base is disclosed. The motor base clamp includes a pair of mirror image elongated clamping elements attached at one end to the supporting base and configured to surround the motor or the like. The free ends of the clamping elements are associated with a fastener that secures and tightens the clamping elements together in the vicinity of the free ends of the elements so as to clamp a motor or the like to the supporting base. At least one of the fastener or the free ends of the clamping elements are configured to equally distribute the load of the fastener to the free ends of the clamping elements when secured and tightened together.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1989Date of Patent: December 25, 1990Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventors: Jeffrey S. Patent number: 4858880Abstract: Resilient mounting apparatuses are useful for isolating the engine generated vibrations and noise from the frame. The mushroom style resilient mounting apparatuses are generally over designed and add to the cost without any additional benefits. The subject resilient mounting apparatus includes a rebound pad designed to provide high fatigue capacity yet low initial stiffness in a small space and to permit the use of simple manufacturing processes to make it. The primary support includes a skirt which cooperates with the rebound pad to keep foreign material from migrating into an annular space. Thus the subject resilient mounting apparatus meets the functional requirements while avoiding the manufacturing complexity or the extra cost of unneeded material.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1987Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventor: James C. Patent number: 4849667Abstract: An electric motor mount is achieved by first and second sheet metal pieces, the first piece being longer than that of the second and the first piece having a first and a second end, the second end being wider than that of the first end. The first and second pieces are stamped in sequence from a strip of sheet metal, and the first piece has a median transition portion forming a transition in width between the wider second end and the narrower first end. This median transition portion is complementary to a portion of the second piece, so that they are nested together, with no waste in the sheet metal strip. Each piece is bent at about right angles, and then the first ends are mounted to the motor at motor mounting apertures, and the second ends form mounting feet to be attached to a support for the motor and motor mount.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1988Date of Patent: July 18, 1989Inventor: Giles W.
