  • Patent number: 5001603
Abstract: A housing assembly 100 which uses substantially spherical pieces (rubber balls) 106 for supports (feet). The balls 106 drop into the bottom housing member 104 which has apertures 202 which allow the balls 106 to rest. Each of the balls 106 protrude from the bottom portion of the housing. Preferably, each of the aperatures 202 have a peripheral wall 402 around them which surround and capture each of the balls (stop the balls from rolling during the assembly process). Preferably, an electronic circuit board 310 is sandwiched between the rubber balls and the top housing member 102. The two housing members 102 and 104 are then latched together causing the balls 106 to compress and load the housing assembly, taking care of any tolerances the mechanical parts in the assembly may have and also hold the electronic circuit board 310 in place.

  • Patent number: 4923158
Abstract: A protective leg for an object such as a piece of furniture comprises a leg body of a hard synthetic resin having at least two grooves or recesses formed in its bottom surface and a plate-like grounding member of a soft synthetic resin having a high coefficient of friction and having cooperatively associated ribs or projections formed on its upper face. In use, the ribs or projections are fitted into the grooves or recesses, thereby fixing the leg body together with the grounding member to the bottom portion of the object to be positioned in place by a fixing means.

  • Patent number: 4880077
Abstract: A base for a loudspeaker enclosure is formed of a lower base disk, an upper support disk and an interposed spacer element which together define an internal hollow space to which structure-borne sound is transmitted. The area of contact between the spacer element and the disks is relatively small is comparison to the area of the disks which defines the hollow space at top and bottom sides thereof. In a preferred embodiment, the disks are formed of a sound-insulating material, preferably rubber, and the spacer element is a spacer ring that peripherally defines the hollow space. Also, a bracing foot, preferably of an inverted frustoconical shape, may be carried upon the upper support disk, for which purpose a support plate is centrally mounted thereon.

  • Patent number: 4846436
Abstract: An adjustable mounting is provided for use between the foot of a machine and the floor where the machine is located, as well as a method for adjusting the height of the foot. The mounting comprises a bearing member and a compressible cushion member which supports the bearing member, as well as an adjustable member which maintains the bearing member in spaced relation with the supporting member. A lifting member is interposed between the bearing member and the supporting member and is extendable to move the supporting member away from the bearing member without reducing the deflection of the cushion member. The portion of the adjustable member between the bearing member and the supporting member may be readily altered while the load of the machine is borne by the lifting member.

  • Patent number: 4763868
Abstract: A rotatable disk mounted to a baseplate at each corner of a refuse compactor pivots between a first orientation having a horizontal axis of rotation for operation as a wheel and a second orientation having a vertical axis of rotation for operation as a leg. The disk is mounted on a bearing support that interfits with elongated slots formed in the baseplate to enable the height of any corner of the compactor, independent of the orientation of the disk, to be adjusted. In one embodiment, the bearing support comprises a nylon block into which an axle of the rotatable disk is snap-fit. In another embodiment, the bearing support comprises an angle bracket to which the axle is welded.

Abstract: An antiskid shock and vibration isolating foot is formed with an annular circumferential recess about midway between its top and bottom and made of a resilient elastomer. A threaded stud is bonded to the top of the elastomer. The upper portion above the annular recess passes through an opening in a case base until the edge around the opening resides in the annular recess. The threaded stud passes through an opening in the base of a component. The stiffness of the upper portion above the annular recess is different from the stiffness of the lower portion below the annular recess. The portion above the recess is frustoconical and that below is substantially cylindrical.

  • Patent number: 4703911
Abstract: A concrete insertable and removable retaining device for use in restricting a lateral displacement of oscillatory or reciprocal-based machinery is disclosed. A base structure defining a recess well accessible from the exterior of the base structure is dimensioned to slidably receive and retain the foot of a piece of oscillating equipment or machinery. The base structure includes a bottom planar surface upon which is fixably mounted a shaft-like anchor means. The anchor means is dimensioned to be slidably received and encased within a receiving well drilled into the concrete or other hardened floor surface whereupon the bottom planar surface of the base structure is brought into a contiguous abutment relationship with the floor surface. A foot of the machinery is thereafter inserted within the recess well and retained therein against any type of lateral displacement.

  • Patent number: 4679754
Abstract: Objects (10) to be secured in place relative to a support member (48) are placed on a support portion (16) of a base member (14) which is secured to the support structure (48). A U-shaped retainer (12) is moved into a position with its sidearms (18, 20) on opposite sides of the objects (10) and the ends of the sidearms (18, 20) aligned with slots (36, 38) in the support portion (16). Then, the retainer (12) is pushed endwise, until a cross member (22), innterconnected between the upper ends of the sidearms (18, 20) is down against the objects (10). The movement of the sidearms (18, 20) causes a spreading apart of a pair of flanges (44, 46) which depend from the support portion (16) of base member (14). When the retainer (12) is seated, lower edge portions (40, 43) of the flanges (44, 46) dig into the edges (28, 30 and 32, 34) of the sidearms (18, 20), and securely connect the retainer (12) to the base member (14).
