  • Patent number: 4769985
Abstract: A guide chain for carrying transmission lines, feed lines, and other energy lines, especially cables and hoses, from a fixed connection to a movable consuming device. The guide chain includes a plurality of chain links that include a U-shaped receiving member, the legs of which form outer side pieces, and that also include a closure member that can be connected to the free edges or sides of the side pieces. With minimum play and friction, the guide chain carries energy lines of various dimensions with negligible wear. When the closure member is opened, a complementarily shaped insert can be placed in the receiving member. When the closure member is closed, the periphery of the insert is supported on all sides. The insert is positively connected with the chain link when the closure member is closed via guide ribs and guide grooves.

When sintering is performed using such a tool, the tool will not deform even if the tool is exposed to an environment of high temperature, such as the temperature higher than 1,100.degree. C., and therefore, bending of the composite camshaft will not occur during sintering. In addition, the ceramic layer prevents diffusion of carbon from the graphite frame to the steel shaft of the composite camshaft, and therefore, a hardening of the steel shaft due to carbonizing will not occur. Abstract: A robot comprising a base, an arm assembly and first and second spaced robot parts are mounted on the robot so that the first robot part pivots with respect to the second robot part about a pivotal axis and a ribbon of flexible cables are connected to and extend between the robot parts in a direction substantially normal to and towards the pivotal axis to provide a ribbon of cables which have an effective length between the robot parts which does not change during pivoting. The cables are clamped in spaced apart positions by a directing mechanism and a retainer mechanism so that the effective length does not change and the cables do not rub each other during pivoting. The directing mechanism comprises a weldment including a pair of interconnected holders which direct the cables from an axis parallel to the pivotal axis to the normal direction towards the pivotal axis.

  • Patent number: 4653481
Abstract: An advanced spine fixation system includes a plurality of screw clamp assemblies preferably inserted through the pedicle and vertebral body at the vertebra. Each screw clamp includes a removable saddle assembly composed of two halves and each provided with apertures for the reception of rigid support rods which, in one form, form a parallelogram. In another form, the screw clamp receives a single rod, the clamp apertures and the rod being serrated for increasing the purchase. The apertures are proportioned to provide an interference fit with the rods to effect purchase between the saddles and the rods. In use, the screws and clamps are properly placed and a soft temporary master is formed which follows and replicates the contour of reference surfaces on the clamps. The temporary master is then used to form a master pattern which in turn is used to form the rigid rods to the determined contour. The rigid rods are then affixed to the clamp assemblies to provide the rigid support needed for spinal procedures.

  • Patent number: 4618114
Abstract: A conduit system for supporting and clamping a bank of conduits of different diameters in a substantially parallel and spaced apart relationship which requires a minimum number of parts and which can be assembled simply and rapidly. The basic structure is comprised of a plurality of vertically and horizontally interlocking modular units, each consisting of a frame member having at least one side thereof including an arcuate surface corresponding to the outside diameter of a first conduit. The conduit is supported on the arcuate surface of one frame member and clamped thereon by a second, superimposed, interlocking frame member. A unitary generally U-shaped adapter is employed to support a smaller diameter conduit within the system. One end of the adapter includes a snap-on clip to facilitate attachment to an arcuate surface of a frame member and the opposite end comprises a pair of opposed resilient arms for receiving and holding the smaller conduit in a fixed relationship to the arcuate surface.
