  • Patent number: 6848662
Abstract: The disclosed system for securely latching a device in a support frame employs a pair of latching members each adapted to pivot about a latch pivot axis defined on an exterior side of the support frame and are adapted to engage a corresponding latch recess on the device downstream from the first latch pivot axis. The first and second latching members pivot toward the interior of the support frame to securely engage the respective first and second latch recesses and automatically pivot further toward the interior of the support frame within the engaged first and second latch recesses in case of an unplanned attempt to release the device from the support frame.

  • Patent number: 6357719
Abstract: A microtool mount includes an elongated finger terminating in a tip. The finger has a pair of valley edges from which valley walls descend to terminate in a valley floor, thereby defining a valley between the valley walls and floor. The valley extends from the tip along a path parallel to at least a portion of the length of the finger. A microcapillary or other rodlike microtool may be accommodated within the valley, and a fastening member, preferably a magnet, may be removably affixed to the finger above the valley to maintain the microtool within the valley. The valley edges are preferably planar along at least a portion of the length of the finger so as to allow the magnet to more firmly affix to the finger.

  • Patent number: 6342138
Abstract: An electroplating rack includes a cathode flight bar from which depends an insulated rack bar over an acid bath. A clamp is fixed to the rack bar, and has a bridge electrically connected to the flight bar through a conducting core inside the insulated rack bar. The clamp has a main body made of plastic, which includes a slot in which protrudes the bridge. An electrically conducting spring clip is installed in the slot, and is formed of two arms continuously biased into a spreaded, opened condition in the slot. A screw carried by the main body, when rotated in a first direction, can force the spring clip into a closed condition, in which it can hold an article to be electroplated between its two arms, and in which one of the spring clip arms is forced against the bridge member. Thus, electrical current can pass through the rack flight bar and conducting core, then through the bridge member, the spring clip and finally into the article to be electroplated.

  • Patent number: 6283875
Abstract: A support and alignment implement for supporting an article such as a golf club in an upright or elevated position comprises a pair of leg members, each leg member having a stretched “C” shaped proximal end and a ground engaging distal end, a spring element disposed between the proximal ends and means for joining the proximal ends such that the spring element is retained therein and maintains the proximal ends of the leg members in contact with one another in a closed position. In operation, the user extends the proximal ends of the leg members away from one another to an open position, such as by bringing. together the distal ends of the leg members, inserts the shaft of the golf club between the stretched “C” shaped proximal ends, and returns the proximal ends to the closed position, thereby securing the shaft between the proximal ends.

  • Patent number: 6279861
Abstract: A pair of elevator clamps are used with a portable computer for tilting the main body and keyboard unit. The elevator clips fit onto rearward parts of the sides of portable computer body unit. The clips have an upper plate and a lower plate with riser joining the upper and lower plates. A support pedestal extends downward below the lower plate member to rest on a support surface and define an amount of incline for the body and keyboard unit. In one embodiment, the clip has a generally F-shaped profile, and the pedestal has a front-to-back taper at its lower edge. In another embodiment, the elevator clip has a threaded post passing through a brace at the lower end of the riser, and the post adjustably supports the lower plate member. The threaded post serves as pedestal. There can be a footing member of hard rubber or other suitable material affixed onto the lower end of the threaded post, for non-slip support on the table or other surface. The footing also facilitates gripping for rotating the threaded post.

Abstract: A motion picture camera head tie-down device and method for securing a motion picture camera head to a camera mount, such as the Mitchell mount. The camera head tie-down device includes a first disk concentrically attached to a second disk. The first disk is contoured to receive a motion picture camera head and the second disk has a plurality of radially extending grooves. A rotatable knob having a spiral thread on a flat surface is positioned such that the spiral thread engages with threads on retractable jaws that are mounted in the grooves of the second disk. A threaded screw passes through the central bores of the first disk, the second disk, and the knob and into a tapped hole in the motion picture camera head. To secure the camera head to the camera mount, the knob is rotated to extend the jaws for engagement with the camera mount.

Abstract: A carrier for a jackhammer which may be mounted to the tongue of an air compressor is disclosed. The carrier includes a support column, an adjustable bracket slideably mounted to the support column, and a pocket secured to the lower end of the support column for receiving the jackhammer. Mounted to the support column is an L-shaped bracket which may be secured to the tongue of an air compressor. The adjustable bracket includes a U-shaped member with two arms and a rear wall. The jackhammer is placed between the arms and an elongated rod is used to retain the jackhammer in place. The pocket has two converging walls which do not contact each other. An opening is formed between the bottoms of the two walls and a bar is placed within the opening. The bar is short enough in length so that the opening is not completely closed, thereby preventing rainwater or other precipitation from collecting within the pocket. Once the jackhammer has been placed within the carrier, the blade of the jackhammer rests on the bar.
