  • Patent number: 5873554
Abstract: An information processor which is capable of preventing damages caused by rotation of a display panel holding unit to a display and a body of the information processor. A rotary shaft member is connected to a display panel holding unit and directed perpendicularly, an outer end of a lock bar is inserted into a lock hole of the body unit and an inner end thereof is removed from a lock hole of the rotary shaft member. A connection member is therefore unable to rotate with respect to the body unit and the rotary shaft member gets rotatable with respect to the connection member. When the rotary shaft member is tilted away from the perpendicular direction, the outer end of the lock bar comes off the lock hole of the body unit and the inner end thereof is inserted into the lock hole of the rotary shaft member. The rotary shaft member is therefore unable to rotate with respect to the connection member and the connection member is rotatable with respect to the body unit.

  • Patent number: 5323290
Abstract: An improved handle/prop is provided for a pen-based computer wherein the handle/prop is pivotally mounted to opposite side edges of the computer. The handle/prop can be pivoted and locked into a plurality of different positions These positions are selected to facilitate carrying the computer, supporting the computer on a flat surface in one or more inclined positions for writing and/or viewing, and holding the computer during writing. In particular, to facilitate writing on the computer screen while holding the computer, the handle/prop is mounted so that it can be swung into a recessed position behind an overlapping portion of the front display surface. This will minimize the size of the computer and minimize interference with holding the computer and writing on its screen at the same time.

  • Patent number: 5248193
Abstract: An enclosure for a computer system is disclosed, which has the capability of being used in a desktop, tower or rack-mount configuration. The enclosure includes side extrusions having a center portion and two end portions which are substantially perpendicular to the center portion. Foot grooves are located on the end portions and on the center portion near each corner, and center grooves are located along the wider center portion. Pliable feet may be slid into position into foot grooves of the end portions of both side extrusions, in the desktop configuration. The tower configuration may be obtained by installing support feet which wrap around the corner of the side extrusion, mating in both the foot grooves on the end portions and those in the center portion of the side extrusion. The disclosed enclosure also enables rack-mounting by way of rack slides mounted into the center grooves of the center portion of the side extrusions.
