Golf Bag Patents (Class 248/96)
  • Patent number: 6474606
Abstract: A golf bag tilting structure comprises a fixed tube fastened at the bottom end with a bag bottom disk, and a movable tube fastened at the top end with a bag top edge such that the bottom end of the movable tube is slidably fitted into the top end of the fixed tube. The fixed tube is linked with one or more tilting rods which are pivoted at the top end with the bag top edge. As the bag top edge is exerted on by an external force, the bottom end of the movable tube is forced to slide to compress a spring which is located in the top end of the fixed tube. The tilting rods swivel away from the bag body to support the golf bag slantingly on the ground.

  • Patent number: 6471055
Abstract: A golf club carrier includes a central support that forms one of three legs that support the carrier when in use. The two other legs are provided by bending a flexible and resilient rod at its mid-point and pivotally interconnecting the rod at that mid-point to an upper end of the central support. Three point stability is provided when the legs are pivoted relative to the central support. A detent member mounted to the central support captures the legs to position them in a storage position. The inherent bias of the rod urges the legs to resume a divergent relation to one another when they are released from the detent member. A top ring and a cup are secured to a first side of the central support and support at least seven clubs. Auxiliary devices are mounted to a second side of the central support to avoid interference.

  • Patent number: 6435345
Abstract: A golf bag is provided with a pair of legs hinged at a rigid collar at the upper extremity of the bag. The lower end of the bag is closed by a base member that defines a flat, planar sole perpendicular to the longitudinal orientation of the bag, and also an upwardly inclined heel. An actuation plate is attached by a leaf hinge connection to the base member at the transition between the sole and heel. Knuckles on the base member and actuation plate are interleaved with each other across the width of the base member. The actuation plate protrudes outwardly beyond the body portion of the bag a distance of at least one inch. A spring wire spreader rod has a central, bight portion that is captured by a spreader hinge bracket located at the upper, outboard edge of the actuation plate. • Patent number: 6427954
Abstract: A new ultra light weight, spring action, stand system for supporting a golf bag is provided. According to one aspect of the present invention, the stand system includes a top bracket, a pair of legs, a guide, a wire form, and a footplate. The top bracket is configured for coupling to a top portion of a golf bag. The pair of legs may be pivotably coupled to the top bracket. The guide is for coupling to a bottom portion of the golf bag to restrain lateral movement of the wire form, for example. The wire form is slidably coupled through the guide and engages the legs. The actuation of the wire form moves the legs from a retracted position to an extended position. Finally, the footplate is pivotably mounted to the wire form and is positioned to have a contact point with the ground for actuating the wire form that is behind the plane of the legs.

  • Patent number: 6164606

Abstract: A collapsible golf cart that is capable of carrying a fully-loaded golf bag includes an A-frame formed by telescoping members pivotally connected at their upper ends and having removable wheels at their lower ends. The cart includes a swinging V-shaped support stand that is attached at its upper ends to the telescoping frame members. The swinging lower end of the stand includes a spike extending downward from its front side and includes an auxiliary wheel at its rear side. When the cart is parked, the stand is in its rearmost position and the spike digs into the ground. When the cart is in motion, the stand is swung to a forward position in which the auxiliary wheel rolls on the ground. The spike also provides good electrical grounding for the cart. The cart also includes a telescoping lightning rod, the effectiveness of which is enhanced by the grounding provided by the spike.

Abstract: A mounting apparatus that can be universally adapted to golf umbrellas or which can be used with a specialized umbrella. Further, the invention is compact and thus lightweight so as not to detract from nor significantly effect the standard usage of the golf bag. The invention utilizes a spherical adapter which is attached to the bottom of the handle of the umbrella. The adapter is in turn captured within a clamp having a socket formed in it. The clamp is in turn secured to the golf bag. Normally, the clamp will remain with the bag and the spherical member will remain with the umbrella when the two are separated such that additional accessories such as cup holders and scorecard holders may be used instead of the umbrella.

  • Patent number: 5996789
Abstract: A golf bag includes a container and a stand. The container has an elongated body which defines an interior space for receiving golf clubs, and a partition member disposed inside the body divides the interior space into a plurality of individual compartments. A throat member is attached to an upper end of the body, and a hinge connects a base member to a lower end of the body. The hinge permits pivoting movement of the body relative to the base member from an upright position to an inclined position. During this pivoting movement of the body, a lower edge on the body lower end moves toward an upper edge on the base member. When the body is in its upright position, a wedge-shaped gap is formed between the lower edge on the body lower end and the upper edge on the base member. The wedge-shaped gap is closed as the body moves from its upright position to its inclined position. A stand, which includes a pair of legs pivotally connected to the throat member, supports the body in its inclined position.
