  • Patent number: 5887833
Abstract: A new ultra light weight, spring action, stand system for supporting a golf bag is provided. According to one aspect of the present invention, the stand system includes a top bracket, a pair of legs, a guide, a wire form, and a footplate. The top bracket is configured for coupling to a top portion of a golf bag. The pair of legs may be pivotably coupled to the top bracket. The guide is for coupling to a bottom portion of the golf bag to restrain lateral movement of the wire form, for example. The wire form is slidably coupled through the guide and engages the legs. The actuation of the wire form moves the legs from a retracted position to an extended position. Finally, the footplate is pivotably mounted to the wire form and is positioned to have a contact point with the ground for actuating the wire form that is behind the plane of the legs.

The apparatus of the invention can be placed in a compact folded-up position so that it is out of the way when not in use.

  • Patent number: 5540431
Abstract: A golfclub-case preferably employed in nature of a lighter carrybag embodiment, features a telescopically variable advantage; whereby the golfer is provided a more comfortably balanced effect during carry-modality, yet more convenient access during freestanding-modality. The special golfclub-case structure comprises two tubular sections freely sliding one inside the other, plus a shoulder-sling secured at one end to the upper opened-end of the golfclub-case, the oposite end down near the case's basecup. Thus when rested upon the base, the case telescopically-retracts about 4-inches, facilitating better upper-end access to shorter putter and wedge type clubs; yet-when lifted away for resumption of carrying, weight of golfclubs automatically re-extends case length, thus effectively shifting center-of-gravity more aft of one's shoulder than with a conventional case, thereby negating former aggravating tendancy of golfclubs to spill out forward as one moves about.

  • Patent number: 5497964
Abstract: A deployable stand has two legs pivoted to a mounting block attached to the exterior of a golf bag. The legs pivot on axes tangential to the bag circumference between a retracted mutually parallel condition and a mutually divergent deployed condition. Each leg has an extension rising above the pivot point. A hand grip is supported between the upper ends of the extensions and contains a pair of coil springs which urge the extensions apart, consequently biasing the legs towards the retracted condition. The legs are easily deployed for setting down the bag simply be squeezing the grip against the rim of the bag with one hand. The stand can be supported to the bag by a strap or can be a permanent part of the bag.

  • Patent number: 5474175
Abstract: The present invention provides a golf bag or container for carrying a plurality of golf clubs. The bag is made out of a rigid cylindrical body with a pair of support legs pivotally attached to the body for supporting the bag in an upright position on the ground, which permits easy access to the golf clubs. A linkage member including a pair of linkage arms terminating in a slider are slidably moveable within a slotted member to control the position of the legs. A separable fastener connects the legs to an out-of-the-way position against the body while the bag is being carried by the user. Also disclosed is a single, elongated strap threaded through a series of aligned slots.

  • Patent number: 5474176
Abstract: A golf bag is supported in semi-upright disposition by a tripod stand that is automatically extended when the bag is placed on the ground and when tension is released from the shoulder strap or carry handle handgrip. When the bag is lifted by the shoulder strap or carry handle handgrip, the stand automatically retracts by means of a cord attached to the shoulder strap and handgrip. When the stand is in its fully extended position, it has a configuration generally in the form of a wishbone. The bag also provides interchangeable pockets and diameter compensating compartments for golf club organization and storage. The bag also has a strap and sliding buckle connected to the carry handle handgrip to securely retract the stand for storage.

  • Patent number: 5464180
Abstract: A golf club bag support set comprises a fixation member, two rod members, a sliding member, two first elastic members, two second elastic members, an urging member, and a bottom plate. The sliding member is forced to move upwards when the urging member is pushed upwards, thereby resulting in the disengagement of the stopping portion of the sliding member with the outer edges of the top ends of the two rod members. The lower ends of the two rod members are forced by the two second elastic members to swing outwards such that the tips of the lower ends swing outwards, thereby causing the tips of the lower ends of the two rod members and the bottom of the golf club bag to make contact with the ground so that the bag is set obliquely and securely on the ground.
