The exchangeable extractable cores are provided for the mold, by which, while retaining the mold as such, different air intake duct geometries, especially different air intake channel cross sections, can be produced. In this manner a plurality of intake duct variants can be produced at substantially constant tool costs. This permits the economical use of injection molded synthetic resin air intake ducts, since the very expensive casting tools can be provided for a sufficient number of air intake ducts.

Abstract: A holder integrated type base board made of synthetic resin integrally molded with a plurality of holders for inserting LEDs on a front face side of a base board main body and a mold therefore. The mold includes a first mold for molding a back face side of the base board main body and a second mold opposed to the first mold for molding the front face side of the base body main body. In addition, the mold includes a holder molding cavity provided at the second mold which is constituted by an insert die capable of being inserted into and detached from the second mold main body. When it is necessary to correct a position of a portion of the holder in a trially fabricated base board, a position of an LED inserting hole in the base board can simply be corrected by drawing the insert die for molding the holder from the mold main body and interchanging the insert die with a new insert die. As such, an entire first mold does not have to be reproduced.

Abstract: A mold assembly and method for molding a substantially hemispherical construct from pre-expanded polystyrene beads. The mold assembly includes a female half mold; a mating male half mold; a first male mold insert mountable on the male half mold and having a continuous, peripheral, beveled edge; and a second male mold insert mountable on the first male mold insert. For forming a construct having an impact-resistant exterior layer and an energy-absorbing interior layer, such as a motorcyclist safety helmet, the beads are initially molded under heat and compression between the female half mold and the first insert to form a first intermediate product of a first volume having a continuous, peripheral, beveled edge; said product is thereafter molded under heat and compression between the female half mold and the second insert to a second, reduced volume to form a compressed, second intermediate product, the beveled edge of the first intermediate product serving to uniformly distribute the force applied thereto.

Abstract: A mold assembly has two mold half shells, corresponding mold half carriers, and a novel intermediate interconnecting member comprising a pair of ring shaped locating members. The locating members have an inner locating wall, preferably a stepped shoulder, that fits into a recessed slot in the outer wall of the mold shells. The locating members have an outer wall that fits into a recessed slot in the inner wall of the mold half carriers. The inner and outer locating walls of the locating members are vertically positioned relative to each to determine the vertical registry of the mold shell to the mold carrier. By utilizing intermediate interconnecting members of differing relative vertical positioning of the inner and outer locating walls, universals mold shells and mold carriers may be used for containers having differing neck heights whereby the neck height adjustment is accommodated by changing the intermediate interconnecting member.
