  • Patent number: 8807985
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for forming molded tapered products, such as masonry blocks, whereby high quality finished products are removed from their mold without the need for complex machinery for demolding. The mold may include one or more mold cavities having one or more movable cavity walls. The movable cavity walls may include an end liner having a planar product forming surface capable of moving from a vertical position to an angled position. Tapered products may be formed by moving the mold towards a pallet so that the pallet engages with the end liner and causes the end liner to move from the vertical position to the angled position. Moldable material may then be introduced into the mold cavity and may be allowed to remain in the mold cavity until it is self-sustaining.

Therefore, a complete pattern is formed by the two intaglioed patterns when the segment is fitted in the opening of the main body.

  • Patent number: 6009727
Abstract: Opposed mold supports of a mold opening and closing mechanism are driven by electronic motors between retracted and advanced positions. The motors are electronically geared together and follow a feed program which initially advances the associated mold supports a set distance which is half the separation distance. When the displacement of both supports stops, both motors are operated at a slow velocity. When it is determined again that both supports have stopped, the location of each is verified to be within an acceptable range and each motor is then operated to apply a desired clamping load.

Abstract: A mold designed to be operated easily by one person to form large blocks. Generally, the walls of the mold are attached to the base with a pivoting assembly such that the walls of the mold fall away from the molded material after hardening. Levers and fulcrums of various designs are used to facilitate the mold wall movements. Additionally, quick release and tightening mechanisms are used to secure the mold walls. Also, the wall of the mold can be designed to incorporate patterns such that the blocks formed in the molds can interlock when stacked, forming a very sturdy wall. Further, specially designed inserts can be utilized to quickly modify the mold.

The collapsible core of the invention has a moveable front panel joined to two moveable side panels, all of the panels being connected to hydraulically powered linkage arrangements that will pull the panels straight back from the liner. The collapsible core is constructed so that when moveable panels of the core are retracted to collapse the core, the core panels are guided along radial lines of the core to pull the panels directly away from the pipe liner, thus practically eliminating the friction that causes bulging or pull out of the liner from the concrete pipe.
