Of Resilient Material Capable Of Flexure To Aid Removal Of Core From Product Patents (Class 249/183)
  • Patent number: 4208029
Abstract: An annular member is integrally positioned within a core portion so that a side surface of the annular portion coacts with the outer surface of the core portion to form a substantially smooth and continuous outer surface of a core. A substantially inextensible portion of the annular member is joined in end-to-end relation to an elastomer portion of the annular member. An axial end portion of the elastomer portion is mechanically locked to the core portion.

  • Patent number: 4157807
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for forming apertures in cement or similar hardenable, plastic materials. The device, intended for use where holes of several inches in length are desired, comprises a body portion having affixed therein a threaded nut or coil. The body portion may be, for example, cylindrical in shape and be a solid elastomeric material having an aperture which extends axially through the body portion and communicates with a nut. The nut should be located adjacent the topmost portion of the body portion. A threaded rod may be inserted in the body aperture and screwed into the nut. A U-shaped bracket is provided which is placed on the hardened cement with the legs of the U-shape disposed on either side of body member. The joining member (which completes the U-shape) is spaced above and from the body portion by the legs. The joining member has a slot for receiving the bolt. The device is removed by threading a nut on the bolt down upon the joining member of the bracket.

  • Patent number: 4134569
Abstract: A gate for opening and closing a longitudinal joint of a core used in casting concrete pipe has a pair of hinge plates pivotally connected to each side of the core adjacent the joint. A pair of over-center links pivotally connect to the hinge plates and to a pair of coordinator links. The coordinator links pivotally connect, as well, to a displaceable one of the core sides. A remotely controlled actuator acting between the hinge plates and the over-center links opens and closes the gate. The pivotal connections of the coordinator links to the displaceable side of the core, the coordinator links to the over-center links, and the over-center links to the hinge plates are such that in a closed position with both sides of the core abutting and with opening rotation of the over-center links about their pivot with the hinge plates, the pivot between the over-center links and the coordinator links during opening first passes through center before moving away from the joint.

  • Patent number: 4084780
Abstract: A plug assembly, for temporary use with a concrete product insert having a coil defining an interior threaded surface, holds the insert in position adjacent a mold wall and prevents the interior of the coil from being filled with concrete. The plug assembly includes a plug having a hollow cylindrical elastomeric body defining a cavity which is open at one end of the body and a stem in the cavity attached to the body internally and extending out of the cavity a distance sufficient to provide for use of the stem as a handle. The outer surface of the cylindrical, elastomeric body is proportioned and threaded for firm matching engagement with the threaded coil interior surface upon predetermined radial compression and axial expansion of the body from its substantially unstressed condition. A support means has a first portion for insertion into the cavity in the elastomeric body and a second portion for attachment to a mold wall.

  • Patent number: 4063861
Abstract: A casting or injection mold for vehicle tires comprises two separable half-shells together defining an annular cavity into which a segmented core is introduced, radially inwardly converging core segments alternating with parallel-sided or radially inwardly diverging core segments to facilitate extraction of the core from the molded tire. In operation, one or more of the non-converging segments are immobilized within the mold, with the aid of mating formations on these segments and on the two half-shells, while the converging segments are urged radially inwardly by resilient or fluidic forces. In a specific embodiment these forces are supplied by a contractile annular spring with projections received in axially extending undercuts of all the segments.
