Patent number: 5215761Abstract: An apparatus for producing a longitudinal multi-component frame element includes a longitudinal mold within which is positioning at least one longitudinal member to form a first component of the frame element. A second component of the frame element is formed by introducing into the mold a foamable and curable material such as polyurethane which cures to form a rigid plastic component connected to the longitudinal member. Before formation of the rigid plastic component, the longitudinal mold is bent in a direction opposite to a direction of anticipated warping of the frame element that would be caused by internal stresses therein. Thus, the frame element initially is formed within the mold to be of a bent configuration, and after removal of the frame element from the mold, the internal stresses transform such initial bent configuration into a straight or rectilinear configuration.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1991Date of Patent: June 1, 1993Assignee: Masco Industries, Inc.Inventor: Hans-Dieter Paulsen

Patent number: 4650149Abstract: There is disclosed a mold assembly for casting a concrete wall having an opening and for anchoring a flexible resilient ring-like gasket in the peripheral wall of said opening to make a seal with a pipe passing through the opening. The assembly includes a pair of spaced mold walls for receiving unset concrete therebetween, a flexible resilient annular mold arranged to extend between the mold walls with its end surfaces in respective sealing contact with the inner surfaces of the mold walls and a rigid mold-supporting member removably inserted within the annular mold to support the latter while concrete is cast about the annular mold and between the mold walls. The outer surface of the annular mold has a continuous annular groove, intermediate the end surfaces, to receive the pipe-engaging portion of the gasket. Once the concrete is set, the outer anchoring portion of the gasket is embedded in the concrete.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1982Date of Patent: March 17, 1987Inventors: Fernand Poulette, Jean-Claude Vezina

Taxidermy mold with means for holding eye within mold during formation of taxidermy form, and method
Patent number: 4642209Abstract: A taxidermy mold (10) is disclosed which includes an eye socket recess (13) into which an artificial eye (20) is inserted. Eye (20) is held in mold (10) while a hardenable liquid foam is poured into mold (10) to create a taxidermy form (30) having a molded eye therein. The eye (20) is held within the eye socket recess (13) during molding by means of an adhesive which separates from the eye (20) and remains in eye socket recess (13) when mold (10) is removed from the taxidermy form (30). It is therefore unnecessary to provide an additional step of cleaning the adhesive from the eye (20) after molding is completed.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1985Date of Patent: February 10, 1987Assignee: McKenzie Taxidermy Supply, Inc.Inventor: Leon T. Patent number: 4616800Abstract: A system of forms for pouring a concrete bond beam, curb and gutter in the construction of a concrete swimming pool to have waterline and curb tiles in place. A set of form boards is provided which define the bond beam waterline, gutter line and curb line. Each form board includes a panel of styrofoam rabbetted to temporarily hold, by means of adhesive tape, a plurality of tiles. The form boards are maintained in a preselected spacing by a plurality of transverse support frames temporarily attached to the form boards. Concrete is poured into the assembled forms to form the bond beam having a gutter and curb, and adheres to the back of the tiles. Upon removal of the form system, the bond beam with attached tiles is ready for finishing. The form system is reusable.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1984Date of Patent: October 14, 1986Inventors: Constantine C. Scourtes, Ralph A. Doerfling

Patent number: 4596683Abstract: A taxidermy mold is disclosed which includes an eye socket recess (13) into which an artificial eye (20) is inserted and locked into position. Locking takes place by means of two diametrically opposed lugs (14) and (15) which mate with two diametrically opposed notches (26) and (27) in artificial eye (20). Alignment is maintained while a hardenable liquid foam is poured into the mold to create a taxidermy form (30) having molded eyes therein.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1985Date of Patent: June 24, 1986Assignee: McKenzie Taxidermy Supply, Inc.Inventor: Leon T. Patent number: 4589623Abstract: The invention relates to a mold for producing a T-shaped hose composed of a main hose having a sidewall with an opening and a secondary hose joined at one end to the sidewall opening of the main hose to form a "T". The mold includes a main mandrel for the main hose having a disk-shaped recess on which the main hose is mountable with its opening in registry with the mandrel recess and a secondary mandrel for the secondary hose having a cylindrical recess adjacent to one end thereof. The secondary mandrel is disengageably secured at the one end thereof to the main mandrel adjacent to the recess thereof, so that the mandrels are arranged in the form of a "T" and cooperate with one another to define an interior mold cavity at the zone of connection. The mold further includes an outer mold part that is mountable on the main hose and the secondary hose after each has been mounted on its respective mandrel parts.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1984Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Phoenix AktiengesellschaftInventors: Frank Horch, Hermann Brockmann, Hans-Georg Fuchs

Patent number: 4486364Abstract: A lens for a light emitting diode is formed by inserting a pair of lead frames into a mold having grooves for snugly receiving the outer free ends of the lead frames. The outer-most edge of the lead frame free ends engage the base of the mold, thereby precisely locating the light emitting element, mounted on the lead frames, relative to the top surface of the lens. The snug fit for the outer free ends assures that the outer free ends are free of the resin to facilitate alignment of the finished product in an electro-optical circuit and to provide improved radiation of heat to the atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1982Date of Patent: December 4, 1984Assignee: Stanley Electric Company, Ltd.Inventor: Kaoru Takahashi

Patent number: 4348003Abstract: The mold according to the invention is in two opening parts. Its first part defining the lower sole face and presenting spiked holes, delimits receiving recesses shaped to complement the molded heads of the spikes and adapted to receive the corresponding heads while ensuring a perfect contact capable of preventing any of the molding material from filtering in, whereas the second part of the mold, defining the upper sole face and provided with bosses projecting opposite the said holes, comprises push-rods on the bosses conjugated with the recesses, to hold the corresponding heads in position inside the latter when the mold is closed.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1981Date of Patent: September 7, 1982Assignee: Patrick S.A.Inventor: Charles Beneteau
