Patent number: 6039300Abstract: A gas inlet member is fixed to a valve body and an upper part stem and a lower part stem are inserted slidably into a vertical stem opening above the gas inlet member. A valve member is provided in the gas inlet member and a gas flow passage is formed. A ring-like seal member is mounted onto the upper part stem and an O-ring is fixed to the lower part stem. A part of the valve member disposed at the lower end portion of the valve body is merely inserted into a gas container. It is possible to carry out a stable operation of the gas supply valve in spite of a change of environment due to vibration or heat while driving a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1998Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Risuke Takamatsu, Seiichi Kimura

Patent number: 5931444Abstract: A valve assembly for a tank having an opening. The valve assembly includes a body assembly mounted to the tank opening. The body assembly has a valve seat and a valve throughbore. A valve disk coacts with the valve seat for opening and closing the valve throughbore. A locking lug is attached to the valve disk. The locking lug has a locking portion for receiving a safety lock pin mounted in the body assembly. The safety lock pin has a locked position and an unlocked position. The safety lock pin is received in the locking portion of the locking lug to lock the valve disk in the locked position, and the safety lock pin is withdrawn from the locking portion in the unlocked position. A valve operator is in releasable contact with the valve disk. The valve operator forces the valve disk away from the valve seat to open the valve throughbore. The body assembly includes a first member and a second member and the lock pin is mounted in the first member.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1998Date of Patent: August 3, 1999Inventor: Clyde H. Patent number: 5887608Abstract: An interface for connecting an actuator and a wide variety of valve types. The presented invention is configured such that any actuator can be manufactured, having only one female splined output shaft as a standard and precision inserts, utilizing powder metallurgy, for example, and be configured to transition the output shaft connection to any output shaft specification, providing the manufacturer the ability to manufacture the main drive component in one standard configuration, and convert it into different configurations as required. Thus, the manufacture gains the ability to mass produce one standard part rather than many special parts requiring design and testing for each change and high costs to produce specials. Particularly, the present invention contemplates a system comprising a rack interface for an actuator linear gear, a pinion member configured to interface said rack, the pinion including an internal shaft configuration configured to interface with the valve coupling component.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1996Date of Patent: March 30, 1999Inventors: Leonard J. Patent number: 5842619Abstract: A device is provided for controlling a discharge of a heavy material from a container such as a bucket, hopper or bin. The device generally includes a combination of gears and levers to couple rotation of a hand wheel or other bar to motion of the release door of a container such that the gears provide a force to the release door which is much greater than that applied to the hand wheel or bar. More specifically, the device may consist of a hand-driven shaft capable of being rotated by a hand wheel or other device. The rotation of this shaft may be coupled by interlocking gears to the rotation of a drive shaft, which is attached to the release door of the container by a lever, such that rotation of the drive shaft causes the release door to open or close, regulating the discharge of concrete or other heavy material from the container.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1997Date of Patent: December 1, 1998Inventor: Scott J. Patent number: 5797585Abstract: A flap valve for a heating and/or air conditioning installation for a motor vehicle has a valve flap which is operated by a control device between an open position and a closed position. The control device comprises a driving lever which is coupled, through a link, to a driven lever fixed to the valve flap. The driving lever is rotated about its axis between an open position and a closed position of the driving lever, during which it passes through an intermediate position near to the closed position. The valve flap is closed when the driving lever reaches its intermediate position, so that the travel of the latter between its intermediate and closed positions is dead travel during which the valve is in the closed position of the valve and the link is in compression so as to change its effective length.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1996Date of Patent: August 25, 1998Assignee: Valeo ClimatisationInventor: Michel Auvity

Patent number: 5694960Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic valve actuating system that is responsive to various externally detected stimuli. The system is comprised of a monitoring and alarm components that close a valve upon the detection of a fault occurring from the undesirable presence of carbon monoxide or combustible gases. Combustible gases, such as, propane, methane, hydrogen and the like can create a hazardous explosive environment, especially when these gases are mixed with the oxygen in the air. The valve actuating apparatus mounts directly to an existing valve, such as one that opens and closes within a quarter of a turn. An audible alarm is given when a hazardous condition is detected. For those who are hearing impaired, an optional visual alarm is also given. A CO.sub.2 cylinder provides a pressure source to operate a pneumatic linear actuator. A low pressure switch sounds a secondary alarm to alert the maintenance personnel to replace the carbon dioxide tank.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Inventors: Edward J. Patent number: 5588088Abstract: A hot water tempering system tempers the output of a hot water storage tank by mixing that output with a cold water flow in a defined ratio to produce a flow of water at a steady intermediate temperature. The system comprises a bypass line connectable between an inlet line and an outlet line of the storage tank, and a proportional flow controller for controlling the relative water flow rates through the tank and through the bypass line. The flow controller may be positioned on the inlet line and the bypass line, or on the outlet line and the bypass line. The tempering system allows the temperature of water in the storage tank to be maintained near the boiling point for killing organisms, but at the same time ensures that water leaves the system at a temperature sufficiently low to be safe for human use.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1994Date of Patent: December 24, 1996Inventor: Michael T. Patent number: RE38750Abstract: A fluid valve assembly includes a housing, a valve, a rotatable driver received in the housing in operative communication with the valve, and an over-center linkage disposed between the driver and the housing. The housing includes an entrance to permit fluid flow into the housing and an exit to allow fluid flow out of the housing. The valve is disposed between the housing entrance and exit. The valve is configured in an open state to permit fluid flow through the housing and in a closed state to block fluid flow through the housing. Rotation of the driver from a first rotational position toward a second rotational position moves the valve from the closed to the open state, and rotation of the driver from the second rotational position to a third rotational position permits the valve to return to a closed state. The over-center linkage biases the driver to either the first or third rotational position.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2003Date of Patent: July 5, 2005Assignee: T & S Brass and Bronze Works, Inc.Inventor: Mark V.
