The sealing element arranged to, in a first position, close the passage, and in a second position, open the passage to allow gas to flow between the gas inlet channel and the gas outlet channel through the passage. The invention also relates to a method for controlling flow of a pressurised gas with a shut-off valve and a method for activating an emergency stop of a shut-off valve.

The environmental compressor protection assembly contains a spring set to a pre-determined pressure. Lubricant pressure in excess of this pre-determined set pressure results in spring compression and opening of a relief path. The assembly preferably remains in a full open position and must be must be manually reset to the closed position to prevent fluid flow in the system.

    Abstract: A diaphragm type fluid flow controller comprises a valve body having formed therein an inlet and an outlet passage, the passages communicating with a valve chamber formed in the valve body. The valve chamber is sealed by a flexible diaphragm. A threaded valve stem is rotated by a handle to cause pressure to be applied to the diaphragm to selectively open or close the valve. A stop ring limits movement of the valve stem in the direction of the diaphragm so that the pressure applied to the diaphragm is limited once the valve is closed. The diaphragm comprises a plurality of nested thin metal dome-shaped plates having upturned peripheral edges which are clamped between the stop ring and a rim formed on the valve body at the upper extent of the valve chamber. The plural plates insure air-tightness of the valve chamber because any rotation of the stop ring, resulting from tightening the valve after closure, is not transmitted to the lower-most diaphragm plate.

    Abstract: An improvement in manually operable vents includes a pair of barbs positioned on the end of a leg attached to a vent screw. A vent body is formed with a retaining well on its underside facing the barbs. A throat is formed in the vent body, opening into a flat upper surface of the retaining well. During assembly, the vent screw is screwed into the vent body, causing the barbs to deflect inwards as they are urged through the throat. Once clear of the throat, the barbs restore to their normal position. The vent screw is then held captive, if removal is attempted, by the barbs wedging against the flat upper surface and a cylindrical side wall of the retaining well.

    Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the flow ratio of two gases, such as carbon dioxide and air or oxygen, where the principal gas is subject to flow fluctuations and the second gas is added to it at a ratio which is to be kept constant despite the variations in flow of the first gas. From the upstream side of a fixed orifice in a main conduit, the first gas is conducted to a sealed chamber on one side of a very flexible diaphragm. The second gas is conducted to the other side of the diaphragm which serves, in conjunction with a valve controlled by the diaphragm, to equate the pressure of the second gas exactly to that of the first gas. An outlet from the pressure regulator leads to the inlet of a flow control valve, and the outlet of the flow control valve leads back to the main conduit to a point downstream from the fixed orifice.
