  • Patent number: 5368058
Abstract: A sample port valve for use in a port of a liquid-containing vessel. The valve incorporates a housing that is attachable to a port of the vessel, such as the permeate port of a reverse osmosis pressure vessel. A preferred valve allows a user to insert and retain a sampling tube into the valve to a position less than fully inserted. With the tube in its inserted, retained position the valve can then be fully opened to allow the tube to be fully inserted into the vessel, without the loss of liquid or pressure from the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5353686
Abstract: A hydraulic circuit, having a four-position closed-center valve (6) controlled by a proportional control valve (22), can facilitate the vertical position control and operating speed control of a blade with a simple structure, while providing that the floating condition of the blade can be precisely recognized by the position of a control lever (20a). The spool (41) of the four-position selector valve (6) has a "hold" position which is given by the closed-center position. Opposite ends of the spool (41) receive a pilot pressure from the pressure proportional control valve (22), one position being obtained by applying pilot pressure to a first end of the spool (41), and two positions being obtained by applying pilot pressure to the second end of the spool (41). One of the latter two positions is a "floating" position, while the other two positions are the "up" position and the "down" position.

  • Patent number: 5303735
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a housing having at least one valve orifice for fluid flow therethrough, and a valve member which moves between a fully closed position and a fully open position, respectively, closing and opening said valve orifice. The valve orifice has a clearance surface forming an auxiliary valve passageway selectively enabling flow communication therethrough in an intermediate position of the valve member between said fully open and fully closed positions, and in the intermediate position the valve member partially obstructs the valve orifice so that the passageway provides attenuated fluid flow communication through the valve orifice relative to fluid flow communication in the fully open position of the valve member. A manually controlled actuator enables limited displacement of the valve member between the fully closed position and the intermediate position for the attenuated flow communication through the valve orifice.

  • Patent number: 5295660
Abstract: A metal diaphragm valve is disclosed, which has an improved locking mechanism capable of locking the valve in closed position. The mechanism comprises a roller that is snugly disposed in a cutout formed in the bonnet made integral with the knob which drives the diaphragm through a reciprocating plunger. The roller is made rotatable on a horizontal plane with the bonnet which is in turn turned by the knob. When the knob is turned, for an angle of 90 degrees, from the fully-opened position of the valve to the fully-closed position, the roller slips into a groove formed in a stationary member provided in the bonnet. When the roller fits into the groove, the operator can tactically feel the drop and hear a clicking sound, confirming that the valve is closed.

Abstract: The present invention is a fuel primer pump capable of manually injecting fuel into the carburetor of an internal combustion engine, and is adapted to include both enrichment and shut-off positions. The primer pump includes a housing sealed at one end by an end cap which defines inlet and outlet openings. An internal piston is disposed within the housing for manual pumping of fuel. A relatively free floating valve pin, mounted on the internal piston, prevents an unwanted flow of fuel through the primer pump when the pump is disposed in the shut-off position. The valve pin is slidably retained within a cavity in the piston which opens onto the face of the piston proximate the end cap defining the outlet passageway. The valve pin is spring biased toward the outlet passageway and centers itself in the passageway seat due to the free floating nature thereof. The valve pin becomes disengaged from the seat when the primer pump is placed in the enrichment position, allowing the flow of fuel through the primer pump.

  • Patent number: 5033519
Abstract: A float actuated valve for automatically shutting off the flow of fluid into a storage tank when the tank is filled to a predetermined level includes a pair of shutter plates movable transversely across the flow passage from an open position wherein the plates are retracted clear of opposite sides of the passage and a fully closed position in which the plates project into and cooperatively block the passage. A spring biased rotary trip plate underlying the shutter plates controls actuation of the shutter plates and may be held by first and second detents in rotative positions locating the shutter plates in the fully closed or a partially closed position. A lower float located within the tank releases the first detent to cause the trip plate to drive the shutter plates from the fully closed to the partially closed position when the level of fluid in the tank rises to a first level.

Abstract: A tamperproof rotary valve which includes a valve body having a fluid flow passage extending therethrough. The passage is intersected by an actuator opening in the body and defining a valve chamber thereat. A rotary valve is disposed in the chamber for opening and closing the fluid flow passage. An actuator is journaled in the actuator opening and is coupled to the rotary valve for rotating the valve. A groove is formed about the actuator, and a contractible/expandable locking ring is disposed in the groove and projects outwardly of the groove beyond the bounds of the actuator when in a free, expanded condition. The locking ring is contractible into the groove to allow assembly of the actuator into the actuator opening. A locking groove is formed in the actuator opening in the valve body and into which the locking ring expands when the actuator is in a proper assembled position in the actuator opening.
