  • Patent number: 6932111
Abstract: A gate valve apparatus minimizes the chance that radicals and plasma in exhaust gas will contact a main valve seal, thereby preventing deterioration of the main valve seal. Slats of a flow control device are installed in an exhaust flow path to control the pressure in a process chamber. The main valve seal is provided on an abutting surface of a main valve element. An annular projection is provided on a pump-side inner wall surface of an accommodating chamber. When it is in a non-sealing position, the main valve element is moved toward the pump-side inner wall surface of the accommodating chamber to bring an outer peripheral portion of the main valve element into contact with the annular projection. Thus, the main valve seal is shielded from radicals and plasma in exhaust gas by the main valve element, the annular projection and the pump-side inner wall surface of the accommodating chamber.

Abstract: The electrically operable ceramic valve of a beverage machine comprises at least one inlet (2), at least one outlet (4), and at least one liquid flow channel (8) extending between the inlet and the outlet, for controlling a liquid flow from the inlet to the outlet. The ceramic valve further comprises a first ceramic subhousing (16) and a second ceramic subhousing (18) through which the liquid flow channel extends and which are designed to be displaceable along each other by means of an electric drive. The liquid flow channel comprises a bend (8) extending at least for a part in the second subhousing, while in an opened condition of the valve the liquid flow channel, upstream of the second subhousing and downstream of the second subhousing, extends in at least the first subhousing. The second subhousing is displaced along the first subhousing by means of the electric drive for controlling the magnitude of the liquid flow.

  • Patent number: 6681790
Abstract: A ported slide gate valve having a gate for regulating the flow of a fluid through the valve, a seat located in the valve interior, and a means for causing the gate to move in such a manner that the gate fractures any scale built up in the lower portion of the valve interior, prior to the gate's movement to a valve closed position. The scale is fractured in a direction away from the seat and deposited in the fluid. More particularly, the means for causing the gate to move includes a primary piston and a secondary piston, where the primary piston is coupled to the gate. In the valve closed position, the secondary piston holds the primary piston in the desired position. A movement of the secondary piston causes the gate to move to fracture the scale in the lower portion of the valve interior.

Abstract: A rapidly actuating gate valve having function of a ball valve is disclosed. A rack extends from a gate. An axial control rod passes through the screw hole of the gate body and then passes through an axial hole. Then the gear of the axial control rod is exactly engaged to the rack of the gate. Retaining threads of a retaining bush around the axial control rod passes through a water-stop ring so as to be locked to the axial control rod to a screw hole of the gate body. Thereby, the axial control rod can drive the gear to rotate; and meanwhile, the rack is driven so that the gate moves upwards or downwards. Thus, the opening of the gate is controlled rapidly to control the volume of the flow. Other than the effect of the original gate, it has a function of a ball valve.

The elastic seal member is elastically deformed and kept in close contact with the inner wall surface of the pipe thereby to gate the flow path in the pipe. The elastic seal member includes a through hole which is formed nearer to the forward end portion along the direction of insertion than the guide hole of the support member and by way of which the forward end portion of the drive shaft can be inserted.

Abstract: A method and device for pressure testing a pipe line is provided wherein a fitting is inserted into the pipeline by inserting male ends of the pipeline into female ends of the fitting to define a flow path through the fitting extending along a longitudinal axis. The fitting has an internal boss extending around a circumference of the flow path and extending radially inward toward the centerline a distance corresponding to the wall thickness of the mating male ends of the pipes so the pipes and boss define a periphery of the flow path through the fitting. A recess is formed in the boss to sequentially receive two slides. An externally accessible port allows a test slide to be inserted into the recess, with the test slide sealing against the walls defining the recess to form a fluid-tight seal for pressure testing the line. The test slide is removed and a finish slide is inserted into the recess.

Abstract: The invention relates to valves and particularly, though not exclusively, to gate valves. There is provided a valve comprising a housing (1) and a valve member (2) moveable within the housing (1) to open and close the valve. In a first aspect the valve is provided with means (7, 8) to reduce friction between the housing (1) and valve member (2). In a second aspect the valve is provided with an operating member (20) which is associated with the valve member (2) and passes through an aperture (21) in the housing (1) which is sealed when the valve is in the open position. Such a valve addresses difficulties relating to the operation of prior art valves, particularly gate valves, and specifically the difficulties created by frictional drag upon movement of the valve member, and difficulties in maintaining the valve.

Abstract: A valve system and method is disclosed that includes, in one preferred embodiment, a compact valve system that may be configured in many different ways so as to be especially suitable for conforming to the dimensional requirements of many particular subsea installations such as lower riser packages. Thus, the height of the hydraulic actuator and/or manual override operators can be varied depending on the necessary configuration. However, operation of the manual override operators is the same as previously utilized subsea manual override operators. In one presently preferred embodiment, a hydraulic actuator which may be a fail-safe actuator, is connected to a gate valve utilizing an operating stem which extends through a first bonnet secured to one side of a gate valve body. A moveable gate is attached to the operating stem and is therefore operably connected for control by the hydraulic actuator. On an opposite side of the gate valve body, a second bonnet is secured.
