  • Patent number: 10166414
Abstract: A handheld forcible entry device includes a tubular housing. A torque-input drive shaft is rotationally assembled to the housing, wherein the input shaft rotates about an axis perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the housing. A helical pressure applicating lead screw is rotationally assembled to the housing, wherein the lead screw rotates about an axis parallel to the housing longitudinal axis. The input shaft and lead screw are rotationally synchronized by a gear assembly. A pressure applicator is threadably engaged with a helical threaded segment integrated in the lead screw. Rotation of the threading advances or retracts the pressure applicator from a stationary wedge plate. The separation of the pressure applicator and the stationary wedge plate separates a locked member from the associated frame, thus forcibly opening the locked member. Abstract: It's now accepted that hurricane tie-down straps should be wrapped over the top of rafters/trusses, avoiding the crucial weakening effect of wood splitting around the nails of common side-nailed straps. That “wrap-over” is easy to do during construction but has been difficult and costly to do for existing houses, where the sheathing and roofing is in the way. But now such wrap-over can be an easy retrofit, according to this invention: Without damaging sheathing or roofing, force the sheathing off the rafter/truss just enough to allow a special strap to be pushed through the gap, then proceed much as in new construction. Unique wedge-blade and lever types of devices quickly create just the right gaps.

The supporting surfaces are vertically movable, allowing the foot and transportation system structure to be raised or lowered, and the vertical adjustment thereby takes place.

Abstract: An insertion/extraction tool for inserting and extracting components in a housing includes a clamp member that attaches to a component in the housing. A lift member includes a bearing attached to the clamp member. A bridge includes a threaded member attached to the clamp member with a lead screw. The lead screw is threaded through the threaded member in the bridge and terminated at the bearing attached to the clamp member. The lead screw raises and lowers the lift member as it rotates, thereby translating the component relative to the housing.

Abstract: An apparatus and associated method for lifting a workpiece. An upright frame operably supports a lead screw for selective rotation. A carrier threadingly engages the lead screw so that rotation of the lead screw in one rotational direction linearly advances the carrier in a lifting direction and rotation of the lead screw in the opposite rotational direction linearly advances the carrier in a lowering direction. A mechanical power inlet is adapted for receiving an input torque from a user. A mechanical power transmission assembly has a first gear fixed in rotation with the mechanical power inlet and a different second gear fixed in rotation with the lead screw, the first and second gears sized so that the input torque imparted on the first gear is less than an output torque imparted by the second gear to the lead screw.

Abstract: A mechanical hand held door opener device, light in weight and operable in any orientation including being inverted, for generating substantial door-opening force with a minimum effort from a user. When the user rotates the handle, he or she activates the unit by moving the shaft that interlocks with the first and second bevel gears. Since the second gear is fastened to the central lead screw, its rotation causes the rotation of the screw. The rotation of the screw then advances or retracts, depending on the clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation; and the inner platform and the four columns attached to the inner platform moves inwardly or outwardly of the outer platform.
