Abstract: A self-locking device for a table elevating screw includes a rotatable disk disposed on a screw having a nut thereon, a wedged body disposed on the rotatable disk, an outer cover moveably disposed on the rotatable disk and the wedged body and a stop plate disposed on the outer cover. When the rotatable disk rotates in relation to the screw in a direction or a reverse direction, the wedged body ascends or descends in relation to the rotatable disk, maintaining a gap between the stop plate and the outer cover or generating a frictional force therebetween. By means of the frictional force occurred when the screw rotates in a single direction, the self-locking device can achieve a precise self-locking device for the screw in a lifting/lowering positioning task.

  • Patent number: 5674045
Abstract: A lifting and moving portable apparatus and method that includes a beam extending across the manhole cover supported at one end by a pivot member resting on the surface outside the manhole periphery and supported at the other end by a pair of wheels riding on the surface outside the manhole periphery. A lifting device is mounted on the center region of the beam for securing the cover and lifting the cover above the cover rim or surrounding surface. Once lifted, the operator can roll the beam and cover assembly through an arc about the pivot axis to expose the entire manhole. Means are provided to stabilize the cover in the horizontal and angular position relative to the beam so that the cover assumes the same angular position relative to the manhole when returned to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5417127
Abstract: A portable rod-like device for depressing a vehicle pedal, such as an accelerator or a brake pedal to a predetermined setting and maintaining that setting in the form of a screw-threaded rod and a mating screw-threaded nut having a hook. The nut rides up the screw-threaded rod and engages the steering wheel of the vehicle while the other end of the rod engages the pedal. The rod depresses the accelerator pedal against spring pressure while the engine is operating and the accelerator pedal is depressed to a point whereby a predetermined setting has been reached on the tachometer of the vehicle, and maintained at that setting. The device can be finely adjusted in small increments. The foot at the free end of the rod frictionally engages the accelerator pedal and can be mounted in either a fixed position or can be swivel mounted.
