Patent number: 8444114Abstract: The present invention is directed to an anchorage extractor. The extractor is used to remove post, anchorage or stake from the ground without using a force generated by a motor. The anchorage extractor comprises a base disposed on the ground to provide a stable support. A lever is connected to a driving wheel that is connected to a rack. The anchorage is attached to the rack and when the lever is actuated, the drive wheel drives the rack upward, removing the anchorage from the ground. An advantage of the present invention is that the direction of the extraction force is parallel to the anchorage axis by adjusting the angle of the extractor. The extractor may be folded on itself or dismantled to be transported.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2010Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Inventor: Gilles Rivard

Patent number: 6814188Abstract: The invention relates to a scissors-like lifting device having a pair of scissors that are arranged between a carrier or support unit and a base unit. Each pair of scissors is provided with two arms which can be pivoted about corresponding axles. The scissors-like lifting device is provided with a lifting truck that can be moved by means of a drive in order to open and close the scissors. The inventive configuration efficiently controls the lifting movement. The band-like traction mechanism can be wound-up on the drum by means of the drive in order to pull the lifting truck towards the scissors axle so that the scissors are opened. The band-like traction device can be unwound from the drum so that the truck is moved away from the scissors axle by the force of gravity on the support and arms thereby closing the scissors.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2001Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Heckert GmbHInventor: Gerold Heckert

Patent number: 6176468Abstract: A mechanical lifting jack with a locking mechanism that arrests upward motion of the handle if the handle is suddenly released by the operator while raising or lowering a load. A latch on the pivot attachment of the handle to the lifting assembly is actuated by a lever disposed at the distal end of the handle, and engages into a toothed safety link when the lever is released. In the event that the operator suddenly releases the handle accidentally, the latch engages the safety link to arrest the upward motion of the handle. The invention can also be used to lock the handle into an upright position alongside the vertical support for compact storage.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1999Date of Patent: January 23, 2001Assignee: Northman Holdings Inc.Inventor: David M. Patent number: 4923174Abstract: An improved portable apparatus for moving and precisely placing a large and heavy object includes load support rails, aligned pairs of anchoring structures secured to and spaced longitudinally from one another along the rails, an actuator-supporting shoe movable along the support rails having lugs for releasably engaging one pair of the anchoring structures to hold the shoe in a stationary position, and an actuator extending between and connecting the shoe with the load movably supported on the rails. The improvements relate to the configuration of the shoe and to a pair of reinforced spaced anchoring pins which allow engagement with one or the other pin by the lugs on the shoe by merely reversing, or rotating 180.degree., the position of the shoe on the rails. In one position of the shoe with its lugs engaged with one of the pins, retraction of the actuator will produce movement of the load in one direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1989Date of Patent: May 8, 1990Assignee: G & L CorporationInventor: Steven R. Patent number: 4854803Abstract: Apparatus and method for jacking and dollying a vehicle wheel assembly, while the assembly remains affixed to the vehicle, the wheel assembly including a pneumatic tire, a wheel and an axle. The apparatus features a "U" shaped framework having telescoping body section members to which orthogonally extending arms are attached. Wheel assembly engaging elements in the form of roller assemblies are mounted on the framework arms for engaging the tire of a wheel assembly located therebetween for lifting. The apparatus also includes an actuator mounted on the framework body section members for driving the roller assemblies against the wheel assembly tire to cause lift, and form the framework and roller assemblies into a carriage for retaining the wheel assembly. Still further, the framework is mounted on casters to enable transport of the supported wheel assembly and framework.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1987Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Inventor: Albert V. Patent number: 4619439Abstract: For the handling of portable large containers, lifting and depositing devices are used, which have rack and pinion jacks to be attached to the corners of the containers by brackets. There rack and pinion jacks have tubular winch shanks which are approximately the height of the containers, into which are guided tubular uprights with the racks. Because of tolerance variations, the danger here arises of an impaired guidance of the uprights with the result of a poor operation of the gearing. To avoid this difficulty, a guide tube is connected with the bottom end of each tubular winch shank. Guide surfaces in the guide tube can be produced with great precision and at low cost. The housing of the winch gearing is configured integral with the guide tube. Thus, a small amount of side play can be left between the upright and winch shank without adversely affecting the rack and pinion gearing operation.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1984Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Haacon Hebetechnik GmbHInventors: Reinhold Riedl, Conrad Lazarus

Patent number: 4568064Abstract: A mechanical lifting jack has an upper lifting assembly and a lower follower assembly slidably mounted on a vertical support and engageable therewith at predetermined positions over its height. An operating handle is pivotally connected at one end to the lifting assembly for upward and downward angular movement, and a safety link is pivotally connected at an upper end to the handle and at a lower end to the follower assembly. The lifting assembly carries a reversing member operable in one position to cause a load engaged by the lifting assembly to be raised by alternate upward movement of the lifting assembly and follower assembly up the support when the handle is moved upwardly and downwardly, and operable in another position to cause a load to be lowered by alternate downward movement of the lifting assembly and follower assembly with similar movement of the handle.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1984Date of Patent: February 4, 1986Assignee: J. Patent number: 4379546Abstract: A lifting jack for lifting loads and exerting a pulling force between two locations includes an I-beam standard having a series of uniformly shaped and evenly spaced apertures, an upper runner disposed about the standard and carrying a first climbing pin which is adapted to fit within a corresponding one of the various apertures, a lower runner disposed about the standard and carrying a second climbing pin also adapted to fit within a corresponding one of the various apertures. The upper and lower runners are connected together by a pitman and these three components are further assembled to a lever which is pivotally attached so as to provide a jacking action to the upper and lower runners. The lever has a pair of fulcrum points only one of which is used with any one jacking cycle, depending upon which runner is advancing and which climbing pin is to be inserted into a corresponding aperture.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1981Date of Patent: April 12, 1983Assignee: Bloomfield Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: Thomas K. Patent number: 4069902Abstract: Novel ratchet loadbinder apparatus utilizing a spring-biased single pawl member carried within a slotted cam formed on the loadbinder's handle, the pawl member being selectively and reversibly positioned in one of two operating positions formed by bearing recesses at both ends of the slotted cam, such selective placement depending upon the desired direction of movement of an associated screw-threaded turnbuckle barrel. The loadbinder's handle carries a spring member utilized to maintain the pawl member in its preselected position during indexing handle movements. During working stroke handle movements, the pawl member is forcibly interposed between the selected bearing recess on the handle and an associated ratchet gear rigidly mounted on the threaded barrel.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1976Date of Patent: January 24, 1978Assignee: MacLean-Fogg Lock Nut Co.Inventor: Brian D.
